Archeological excavations have revealed 5,000 years of civilization on Jeddah’s land, but it’s a blend of old and new that makes Saudi Arabia’s 'bride of the Red Sea' so appealing. Explore the narrow medieval alleys of the old town (Al Balad), built from blocks of Red Sea coral. Wander the ancient stalls of the bustling Souq Al Alawi, the Kingdom's most extensive bazaar. People-watch along the Corniche, a seafront promenade lined with lush green landscaping, cafes, piers and iconic King Fahd’s Fountain over a mixed-rice-and-meat-meal of kabsa, the national dish of Saudi Arabia.

Day 1 – December 17, 2026
Your day starts with a transfer from Jeddah Port to the airport, where you board a flight to Riyadh. As you travel, the Red Sea’s blue waters fade into desert landscapes before arriving in Saudi Arabia’s capital.
After landing, you visit Historic Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the birthplace of the Saudi Kingdom. At-Turaif District features impressive mudbrick buildings and landmarks, and your guide shares important stories about Diriyah’s role in Saudi history.
Next, experience authentic regional cuisine at Najd Village, a restaurant designed in traditional Najdi style with wooden beams, embroidered cushions, and subtle lantern lighting. A Saudi lunch is served, including slow-cooked lamb, kabsa rice, freshly baked bread from a clay oven, sweet dates, and Arabic coffee.
A bit later, proceed into Old Riyadh, a district where historical significance endures alongside contemporary development. At Souq Al Zal, one of the city’s most established marketplaces, visitors encounter the distinctive aromas of frankincense and oud, as well as a variety of traditional goods including handcrafted daggers, intricately woven rugs in desert tones, antique coins, and an array of spices. Exploring at your own pace allows for meaningful engagement with experienced shopkeepers—many representing generations of traders—and provides the opportunity to acquire a memorable keepsake.
As the evening sets in, embark on a journey in expertly driven SUVs toward the expansive Riyadh desert for an experience that seamlessly integrates adventure with cultural heritage. The drive leads away from the city lights into an environment of rolling dunes illuminated by the fading daylight.
Upon arrival at a traditional desert camp, lanterns provide ambient lighting across the sands. The program offers an authentic Bedouin experience, including Arabic coffee served in traditional cups, a sword dance performance, live music resonating through the dunes, and a dinner featuring local cuisine under a starlit sky. Stargazing is a notable component, showcasing visible constellations due to minimal light pollution.
At the end of the evening, return to your hotel for the night, reflecting on the day's experiences that harmoniously combined historical and contemporary elements of the Kingdom.
Note: the drive to / from the camp will be bumpy for approximately 1km/.62 miles. Seating at the camp is on ground cushions.
