Embark on an unforgettable 4-day journey through Lisbon and Portugal, designed to immerse you in the country's rich history, vibrant culture, and exquisite gastronomy. Explore medieval treasures like the Castle of the Knights Templar and the magical Quinta da Regaleira, indulge in a hands-on cooking class in Alentejo, and savor world-class wines at the renowned Cartuxa winery. Discover Lisbon's most iconic landmarks, from stunning viewpoints to St. George's Castle, and experience the soul-stirring tradition of Fado. This exclusive program offers the perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and authentic Portuguese charm.
Special Notes: This program involves walking distances at times over uneven ground. Due to the nature of this program, it is not available for guests who require use of a wheelchair, walker or cane. Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to our local ground operators for review.
DAY 1
Upon arrival at Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Check-in at the hotel is available from 3:00pm. Your elegant hotel is located in the heart of Lisbon, close to boutique shops, historic sites, and a wide range of restaurants and cafés.
Settle in and take some time to relax after your journey as the day is at leisure. Meals are on your own.
A hospitality desk will be available at the hotel (location and time to be advised) to assist with questions and provide recommendations for area sightseeing.
DAY 2
The day starts with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a thematic journey following the footsteps of the Templars. This carefully curated itinerary blends history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes for an unforgettable experience.
Meet your guide and head to Tomar, where you'll explore the historic Castle of the Knights Templar. Afterward, you will travel to Nazaré for a delicious lunch of local favorites. This will be followed by a leisurely walk along the scenic shoreline.
Your tour then continues to Sintra, where you will visit the enchanting Quinta da Regaleira, a 16th century Renaissance-style manor and UNESCO World Heritage site. This historic estate built by the millionaire António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro in collaboration with architect Luigi Manini, is well-known for its unique architecture including underground tunnels and initiation wells.
Dinner in Sintra follows and then the group will return to Lisbon for the evening.
DAY 3
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, followed by a scenic drive to Évora, where you'll enjoy views of the Cristo Rey statue. Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the capital of Portugal's Alentejo region. It's known for its well-preserved historical center, including a Roman temple, medieval walls, and buildings from various periods.
Explore the city on a guided tour before heading to a cooking studio for a hands-on experience making traditional Alentejan dishes, with lunch included.
Portugal's vast cork oak forests have fueled a thriving cork industry for centuries, leading to a wide range of cork products and a deeply rooted cultural tradition. After lunch, visit a cork production facility and learn about the process.
Next, indulge in a wine and tapas tasting at Cartuxa Winery, one of Portugal's most renowned wineries.
Finally, return to Lisbon for some free time at the hotel before an unforgettable Fado dinner experience at Clube de Fado or similar.
DAY 4
After breakfast and check out, experience the best panoramic views that Lisbon has to offer before transitioning to the cruise terminal.
Your journey begins with a drive to the picturesque observation deck of St. Peter or São Pedro de Alcântara. This is one of the largest and most iconic observation points in Lisbon offering panoramic views of the Baixa and Mouraria neighborhoods, with the iconic Saint George's Castle prominently in sight.
Next, you'll visit the Edward VII observation deck located within the Parque Eduardo VII, to capture vistas of the park itself, the imposing statue of the Marquis of Pombal, and the Avenida da Liberdade. You should also be able to see the south bank of the Tagus River and, on clear days, the hills of Arrábida.
The tour continues with a visit to Lisbon’s highest point and one of the most historic symbols of the city, the historic Fortress of St. George. Here you can explore its ancient walls and the “Gates of the Sun” observation deck.
Your program concludes with a transfer to the port of Lisbon for embarkation.

DAY 2
Enjoy breakfast, meet your guide and depart on a scenic drive towards the Belem Quarter, where you can admire the Monument of Discoveries, the Tower of Belém and Jeronimos Monastery. Continuing to downtown Lisbon, you will pass lovely Liberdade Avenue, the elegant shopping area of Chiado and the heart of the commercial area, Praça do Comércio and Alfama.
Alfama takes its name from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning fountains or baths. It contains many important historical attractions and traditional Fado restaurants along its narrow and winding streets. The medieval Castle of São Jorge overlooks the Alfama and offers one of the best views of the city.
Also see the Lisbon Cathedral, also known as the Sé. Although it looks like a medieval fortress, the interior is glorious and includes the font where St. Anthony of Padua was supposedly baptized in the 12th century.
By midday, you will return to the hotel to spend the afternoon at your leisure, or you may remain in the city center and return on your own.
The entertainment for the evening will be at a typical Fado restaurant. Here, you will enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner and watch a Fado show. Fado is Portuguese folk music that is melancholy by nature and usually played on guitars and mandolins. The lyrics tend to be poetic and involve themes such as love and sadness.
Following this authentic cultural experience, you will return to the hotel.
Note: On Tuesdays and Saturdays, Feira da Ladra (flea market) takes place in the Alfama quarter and traffic circulation may be somewhat affected.
DAY 3
After departing from the hotel, you will pass through some of Portugal’s most inspiring countryside on the way to Mafra. Here, at the revered Palace of Mafra, which was constructed of local limestone and marble in the 18th century, you will behold priceless art and period furnishings that were characteristic of the royal lifestyle. At one time, the palace also served as a Franciscan monastery.
After visiting the extraordinary palace, you will continue even deeper into the countryside to the Adega Mãe, home to approximately 40 hectares of vineyards with a production capacity of somewhere near 1,5 million litres per year. In its cellar, white, red and rosé wines are produced. The productive infrastructure is equipped with modern and sophisticated machinery, combining cutting-edge technology and traditional approach.
While touring this modern and architecturally innovative vineyard, you will get to know the white and red wine presses, the grandeur of the storage and fermentation tanks. Take a peek into the laboratory and visit the Time Room (“Sala do tempo”), where aromas combine with the scent of French Oak barrels; witness the repose of their Reserva, and finish things off with a tasting while you take in the views of the vineyard.
Following lunch at the winery, you will return to the hotel along a spectacularly scenic coastal route. The remainder of the day and dinner will be on your own to enjoy as you please.
DAY 4
After departing from the hotel, you will drive to Sintra, a beautiful town nestled in the forested foothills of the Sintra mountains. Your experience here begins with free time to wander about the atmospheric streets, enjoy the sweeping views and thoroughly relax.
Not far away, you will find Pena Palace, a landmark that was built in the 19th century to be a royal summer home. Inside and out, it looks like an eccentric mix of different castle styles and features. Now hailed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Portugal’s Seven Wonders, the flamboyant palace exemplifies 19th-century Romantic architecture, inside and out.
Following your tour of Pena Palace, you will return to Lisbon and embark the cruise ship.

Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water, based on the falls’ one-mile width and height of 360 feet. It’s an amazing spectacle to watch as the Zambezi River roars over the edge of a basalt gorge, forming what locals call Mosi-Oa-Tunya or “the smoke that thunders.” In November 1885, after seeing the falls for the first time, Scottish explorer and Doctor David Livingstone re-named them after Queen Victoria.
A path along the edge of the rainforest provides visitors with an unparalleled series of views of the falls but be prepared to get wet from the tremendous spray!
After your tour of the Falls, transfer to the Victoria Falls airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, you will be met and assisted with the short walk to your hotel. The hotel is located within the airport terminal. Note: the flight is not accompanied. Lunch and dinner are on own today.
Guests will be reunited with any excess luggage that was stored in Cape Town and shipped to Johannesburg.
NOTE: the cobblestone walkways within the rainforest can be slippery if wet and some spots are at a gradient. Proper walking shoes that have a good grip should be worn, and guests should wear appropriate clothing to get wet. Table Mountain gets its name from the flat-topped central massif of the mountain, which, viewed from the city, is surrounded by Devil’s Peak on the left, Lion’s Head on the right and Signal Hill in the foreground. From the summit, the natural protected area stretching from Signal Hill to Cape Point has been managed under the custodianship of the National Parks Board. This area has one of the highest concentrations of endemic plant and animal species in any area of its size, containing a staggering 2 285 plant species – more than the entire U.K.
Upon descent, re-board your vehicle and transfer to your hotel. Check in time is at 2:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time this cannot be guaranteed.
Your hotel is located a stone’s throw away from the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront – home to numerous shops, restaurants and plenty entertainment. You may opt to take a leisurely stroll to the waterfront or perhaps make use of the hotel’s complimentary hourly shuttle.
The remainder of the day and evening is at your leisure. Dinner is on your own.
Note: The cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain is weather dependent. If not possible due to high winds a stop will be made at a viewing area near the cable car base for photos.

DAY 1
Disembark in Cape Town, meet your guide and transfer to your city-based hotel. En-route you will have an orientation tour.
Check-in is at 2:00pm and although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Luggage storage will be available should you wish to head into the city to explore on your own. Meals are on your own today.

DAY 2
After breakfast and check out, you will be met and transferred to the Cape Town International Airport for a flight to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe.
As guests may only bring one piece of checked luggage per person, excess luggage (1 piece per person, 20 kg / 44lbs.) will be shipped via courier to Johannesburg where you will be re-united with it on Day 5. Make sure to pack accordingly and bring any medications and cruise documents with you.
Upon arriving at the Victoria Falls Airport, proceed through Customs and Immigration. You will then be met and transferred to the Palm River Hotel. Visas are required. Please see further below for details.
Enjoy lunch at the hotel followed by check-in formalities and then later in the afternoon, transfer to the Zambezi River for a lovely sunset cruise. Enjoy a beverage while watching the sunset and possibly spotting some animals swimming or along the shoreline.
Back at your hotel, enjoy a Riverside dining experience which offers an authentic African barbecue-style dinner surrounded by the wilderness of the Zambezi National Park.
DAY 3
After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Victoria Falls Rainforest where you will have a guided walk.
Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water, based on the falls’ one-mile width and height of 360 feet. It’s an amazing spectacle to watch as the Zambezi River roars over the edge of a basalt gorge, forming what locals call Mosi-Oa-Tunya or “the smoke that thunders”. In November 1885, after seeing the falls for the first time, Scottish explorer and Doctor David Livingstone re-named them after Queen Victoria.
A path along the edge of the rainforest provides visitors with an unparalleled series of views of the falls but be prepared to get wet from the tremendous spray!
NOTE: the cobblestone walkways within the rainforest can be slippery if wet and some spots are at a gradient. Proper walking shoes that have a good grip should be worn, and guests should wear appropriate clothing to get wet. Due to the amount of walking and terrain, this program is not suited for guests who have walking difficulty or who utilize a wheelchair or scooter. Walking distance will be 2-4km (1.24 – 2.48 miles).
Continue your journey by road across the Zimbabwe – Botswana border to Chobe Chilwero. Here you will check in, enjoy lunch at the lodge and then some free time to get acquainted with your surroundings.
Chobe is home to the world's largest remaining population of African elephants and this ultra-exclusive lodge – the only one in the area with a full-service spa – sits on a hill high above the Chobe River affording unparalleled panoramic views over the well-tended gardens to the islands and floodplains beyond, stretching as far as Namibia.
On your game drive, be on the lookout for elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo to name a few. Chobe is also home to two antelope that aren’t encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck. Declared a national park in 1967, Chobe was the first established in Botswana and now covers more than 4,500 square miles of dry savannah, floodplains, and teak woodlands that are ideal animal habitats.
After what is sure to be an amazing game drive, return to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 4
After an early-morning wake-up call and coffee or tea in the lobby, embark on a morning game drive with your safari ranger.
Returning from your morning safari, a full breakfast will be served after which you will have free time to do as you wish at the lodge. Perhaps take a nap, enjoy a service at the spa (own account), sign up for a photographic safari or some fishing (own account and subject to availability), or simply relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Following lunch, enjoy a sunset safari into the bush and then return to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 5: March 13, 2027
Time permitting, enjoy one last game drive followed by breakfast and check-out before a transfer to the Kasane Airport for your flight to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport, you will be met and assisted through passport control and baggage claim. You will then be escorted to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Your hotel is located within walking distance of the terminal.
At the hotel you will be reunited with any luggage that was shipped from Cape Town. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.
DAY 6
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Check out time is 11:00am. At the designated time, you will be assisted on the short walk to the Johannesburg Airport terminal based on your flight schedule. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel or alternatively you may wish to purchase an extra night to guarantee a room for the day.

Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms however we recommend bringing your own travel adaptor if you are bringing electric devices.
