Description

Discover the marvelous hamlet of Saint-Florent and sample several vintages in the Patrimonio wine region on this memorable tour. You’ll drive across the base of the Cap Corse promontory deep into the Nebbio, Corsican for fog, a mountainous but fertile landscape that produces some of the island’s finest wines. Upon reaching the opposite coast, find the delightful village of Saint-Florent, the so-called Saint-Tropez of Corsica. During your walking tour, you’ll marvel at this former fishing village, a favorite among yachters and beach lovers that boasts a charming ancient quarter lined with inviting boutiques. During time on your own, perhaps visit the 15th-century Genoese citadel and capture photos of the pastel-colored buildings overlooking the sea. Continue to the Patrimonio, one of Corsica’s premier wine regions, where you’ll taste several locally produced wines. You’ll likely try the region’s famed muscat, as the grapes for this sweet wine thrive in the damp microclimate, and a complex white crafted with vermentino grapes. During your return journey, pass through the scenic Teghime Pass, a natural break in the mountains where Corsicans held off the Germans during World War II, and contemplate the resourcefulness and resolve of the captivating Corsican people.

This tour includes approximately 90 minutes of moderate walking/standing, plus any additional walking at the guest’s discretion during free time. There will be some uneven surfaces to negotiate. The tour is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. The scenic driving portion of the itinerary includes some narrow, winding roads; therefore, the tour is not recommended for guests who suffer from vertigo and/or motion sickness. Participants must be at least 21 years of age to be served alcoholic beverages. There are public toilets at the wine-tasting venue. The only additional available facilities are at the local bars, and guests would need to make a purchase in order to use the restroom. The order of sites viewed or visited may vary.
