Land Programs & Hotels

  • Gain a remarkable understanding of the ancient world by browsing key archaeological ruins and historical sites that will reveal the complexities of that Greek civilization, while pausing along the way to sample superb Greek wines.

This is a small group program and thus limited to 14 participants.

    DAY 1

Upon arriving at the Athens International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Following check-in, the afternoon will be free to explore the area on your own.

Check in time at the hotel is at 3:00pm.

This evening, you will dine at the seaside restaurant Varoulko at the Microlimano marino. Michelin-star chef Lefteris Lazarou created the restaurant menu, so expect a fantastic dining experience with a sea food-based menu. Kindly advise us of any dietary restrictions at least 21 days before arrival. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel to spend the night. Please ensure your flight is scheduled to arrive prior to 5:00pm.

NOTE: should you have any special dietary requirements, kindly advise the Regent Reservations Team to note your land program booking at least 90 days before departing for your program. Any last-minute requests may not be able to be accommodated.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and depart for the Peloponnese area, where you will have a photo stop at the Corinth Canal. The canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea, separating the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland. The canal was dug at sea level and has no locks, unlike many other canals. From your guide you will learn about early attempts to construct a canal in this location, including a failed attempt during Nero’s reign in the 1st century.

You will then proceed to an ancient section of Corinth to view an archaeological site with a surprising mix of ruins. Some of the remains are from a 6th-century BC Greek city, while others are from a 44 BC Roman colony built at the end of Julius Caesar’s reign. Some of the more fascinating highlights include a Christian basilica, the starting lines of a Greek racetrack, a sacred spring with bronze lion’s-head spouts, and the elaborate Roman fountain of Peirene, which according to myth was where Pegasus drank.

The Nemea wine region is among Greece's most important for red-wine production. The mountains and valleys surrounding the village of Nemea have been producing wine for centuries, mostly from the native Agiorgitiko grape. A wide range of wines are made with this red grape variety, including dry wines and lighter, sweeter ones. While visiting a nearby wine estate, you will sample a selection of distinct wines and enjoy a light lunch.

Continuing on, cross the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, one of the world’s longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type. The bridge spans the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula, to Antirrio on mainland Greece.

Once on the mainland, you will stop at Nafpaktos, a seaside town known for its lengthy beach and an impressive Venetian castle. The naval Battle of Lepanto occurred just off the coast in 1571. The Ottoman fleet was soundly defeated, marking the end of the western expansion of the Ottoman Turks. Miguel Cervantes, who later wrote “Don Quixote,” lost the use of his left arm during the battle.

Ahead, lie the small coastal towns of Galaxidi and Itea, which you will pass on the way to Arachova where you will spend the evening. Dinner is included this evening.

    DAY 3

After an American breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and begin the immensely scenic drive into central Greece, eventually stopping in Delphi. The ancients believed the site to be the physical and spiritual center of the earth.

You will walk along the Sacred Way, following the same path up Mount Parnassus that the ancient pilgrims took to seek advice from the Oracle of Delphi. The pilgrims would ask the oracle questions about the future, and she would answer somewhat cryptically. Even so, the oracle was famous throughout Greece and far beyond.

You will also browse through a museum at Delphi which houses a superb collection of votive offerings and statues, including the glorious Charioteer, one of the finest bronze statues from ancient Greece.

A short drive will take you to the village of Distomo and on towards the Monastery of Ossios Loukas, which dates to the 10th century. UNESCO declared the walled monastery a World Heritage site for its outstanding Byzantine religious architecture. Please note that women must wear clothing that covers their knees and shoulders to enter.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own. For your convenience, a transfer will be provided into town at 5pm, returning at 8pm.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Athens with a small deviation to visit the spectacular, family-owned winery Domaine Hatzimichalis or similar venue. You will enjoy a taste of its wines before continuing on to the

port of Piraeus where you will board your ship.

The museum is accessible and there are shaded rest areas nearby. Should a guest prefer not to enter the full site, they may remain at the museum, relax in the nearby café area, or wait comfortably on the coach, depending on preference.

•Delphi: The archaeological area is set on a mountainside with inclines and uneven stone paths. The museum, however, is accessible and offers seating throughout. If guests choose not to visit the ruins, they may enjoy time at the museum, relax at the café adjacent to the site with its beautiful views, or remain on the coach.

•Ossios Loukas: The monastery complex includes some steps and uneven surfaces. If access proves difficult, guests may remain in the courtyard area where seating is often available, enjoy the peaceful surroundings at a nearby café, or wait comfortably on the coach during the guided portion

There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation.

  • Travel by luxury coach through stunning landscapes, with guided visits to the oracle site at Delphi and the awe-inspiring cliff-top monasteries of Meteora. The highlight of your journey is an unforgettable experience at the Acropolis, where you'll walk to the summit to admire the Parthenon and sweeping views of Athens. You'll also explore the world-renowned Acropolis Museum and enjoy a traditional lunch in the charming Plaka district.

    PLEASE NOTE:

•This is an extensive 4-day program that covers a lot of ground by luxury coach. There is a lot of driving involved but guests will have a unique opportunity to visit two of the most precious and sacred sites in a beautiful and unspoiled part of Northern Greece.

•Due to the amount of walking over uneven ground and steps at the various ancient sites, this program is not suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair, walker, cane or who have other mobility restrictions.

•Please advise RSSC if you have any dietary restrictions or needs specific to this program at least 90 days before departure so that the venues can be informed accordingly. While every attempt will be made to honor dietary requests, this may not always be possible.

Upon arrival at Athens International airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the center of Athens. The remainder of the day and evening are at your leisure with meals on your own.

Check-in time at the hotel is 3:00pm. For guests arriving early, your rooms may not be ready until that time; however, you may leave your luggage with the Concierge in order to make the most of your early arrival.

    DAY 2

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then meet your guide in the lobby to begin your sightseeing tour of Athens.

Begin with a visit to the famous site of the Acropolis. En route you will drive by Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Neo-Classical styled university buildings, the Royal Palace, and the Old Olympic Stadium of Athens.

Arriving at the foot of the Acropolis, one of the most photographed ancient monuments in the world, you will set off with your group on a walking tour to the top. Your guide will stop along the way to brief you on its history. Once you get to the top you will have some free time to explore and take photographs. Admire the ancient temples of Athena Nike and the towering Parthenon as well as the gorgeous view of the city of Athens below.

Note: Expect elevated temperatures in the summer months and heavy crowds. There are upwards of 100 or more un-even steps to get to the top of the monument. There is a handrail in some spots but not all. Those not wishing to venture to the top can remain at the bottom and wait for the group to return. At the top, the ground is uneven. Large bags are not permitted here and will need to be left on the tour bus.

Next you will visit the breathtaking Acropolis Museum – an impressive building that was completed and opened in 2009 and has an exhibition space of more than 14,000 square meters. It houses every artifact found on the rock and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It also lies over the ruins of a part of Roman and early Byzantine Athens.

Following your visit of the museum, take a stroll with your group through the enchanting, traditional streets of the Plaka, the colorful old quarter of Athens, rich in neoclassical, ancient monuments, and Byzantine Churches. Here in the Plaka, you will have a traditional Greek lunch before returning to your hotel where you will have some free time.

In the evening you will be met by your guide, and you will transfer to the picturesque Mikrolimano Area in Piraeus where you will dine at Varoulko Restaurant. Lefteris Lazarou, Greece’s top-awarded Michelin Star Chef created the restaurant’s menu, so you will not be disappointed in this fantastic dining experience.

    DAY 3

The next day enjoy breakfast at your hotel and board your coach for the drive to Delphi. The beautiful drive into the land of central Greece will bring you to the magnificent site of Delphi.

Delphi was regarded by the ancient world as both the physical and spiritual center of the earth. Located approximately 2,000 feet above sea level on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, this sanctuary dedicated to Apollo housed the most esteemed oracle of antiquity. Individuals from all walks of life, including prominent figures within Athenian civilization, placed considerable trust in the pronouncements delivered by the priestess known as the Pythia, whose responses were typically interpreted—often with deliberate ambiguity—by attending priests.

Over time, Delphi amassed significant wealth through offerings, much of which has since vanished; however, visitors today can still appreciate the site’s ruins and reflect on its historical significance during its period of prominence.

Walk up the Sacred Way past the beautiful small Treasuries to the Temple of Apollo, location of the oracle; continue to the Museum with its superb collection of votive offerings and statues, including the world-famous Charioteer.

A traditional country lunch will be offered at the nearby village of Arachova. After lunch you will board your coach and commence the drive to the town of Kalambaka, a picturesque town that sits at the foot of Meteora. After check-in enjoy a group dinner and then the evening will be at your leisure.

    DAY 4

After breakfast you will board your coach for the visit of the Meteora Monasteries. Admire the extraordinary rocks of Meteora which were formed as a result of the force of the nature, and they appear to be suspended in the sky, crested with the celebrated monasteries. Today only six monasteries are inhabited, two of which have become nunneries. You are invited to delve into two of these remarkable phenomena, seemingly floating in the sky and serving as an example of the post-Byzantine era.

After the visit of the Monasteries, you will commence your drive to the port of Piraeus in order to board your vessel for your cruise.

NOTE: Scheduled visits are for the Monastery of the Great Meteoron “Megalo Meteoro” and The Nunnery of St. Stefanos “Agiou Stefanou.” Should one be closed, it will be substituted with Moni Varlaam.

Steps vary from one to the other - The Monastery of the Great Meteoron has approximately 200 steps, St. Stefanos Monastery has approximately 10 steps and Moni Varlaam has approximately 80 steps.

Coaches are able to drop off guests approximately 300- 500 feet from each Monastery.

  • Your unforgettable Arabian escape begins here! Discover the vibrant spirit of Qatar’s capital on an immersive journey that blends tradition, luxury, and adventure. From seamless airport transfers, world-class accommodations and exhilarating excursions by land and sea, this program invites you to experience Doha’s dazzling skyline, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Uncover bustling souqs, marvel at modern wonders, and unwind by the Arabian Gulf—all while savoring the flavors and heritage of this remarkable destination.

    DAY 1

Disembark in the port of Doha and meet your guide.

Begin your tour at the National Museum of Qatar for a delightful encounter with Qatar’s past, present and future. The design of the museum resembles the naturally occurring crystal formations known as the desert rose.

Built around Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani’s original palace and the seat of government for 25 years, the National Museum of Qatar gives voice to Qatar’s heritage and celebrates its future. Exhibitions combine historic objects and contemporary influences, opening up a dialogue around the impact of rapid change. You will have time to visit the museum’s shop before having lunch at Jiwan Restaurant which is located within the museum.

After lunch, proceed to your city-based hotel for check-in (3:00pm) after which the remainder of the day will be at your leisure and dinner on your own.

Fairmont Doha, located in the very unique Katara Towers on the Marina District seafront, offers impressive views of the Arabian Gulf, Doha waterfront, and Lusail. The hotel is close to Lusail Iconic Stadium, Marina Promenade, and Place Vendôme Mall.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel into the surrounding desert in an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle. To improve traction in the deep sand, the tires of the vehicle will be deflated. Then, off you will go, racing through the desert dunes in an exhilarating activity known as dune bashing. The driver is highly experienced at negotiating the shifting sands at ever-changing speeds.

Note: The dune bashing activity will be bumpy and dusty. It is not recommended for guests who are or may be pregnant or those who have a bad back.

A traditional lunch follows at the seafront desert camp, which is a collection of huts furnished with beach beds and Arabic carpets. Other facilities include gazebos, restrooms and a sunken firepit.

In time, you will drive back to the hotel to freshen up before boarding a traditional wooden dhow for a dinner cruise around Doha Bay. The city will be beautifully illuminated as you pass landmarks such as The Pearl, a manmade island with high-end residential towers, marinas and shops. The dhow will maintain a fairly slow speed that is ideal for sightseeing and snapping photos of the city.

After disembarking, you will return to the hotel for the evening.

    DAY 3

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will tour Doha, the capital of Qatar and a city that embraces modernity yet still preserves the nuances of the Arab tradition. The highlights include:

•A tram tour of historical downtown Doha and "the world's smartest and most sustainable fully built city district “.

•Browsing the Souq Waqif, a traditional bazaar with a myriad of shops full of merchandise such as ceramics, fabrics, spices, Arab sweets, perfumes, candied fruit and traditional clothing

•Stopping for Arabic sweets and tea at Souq Waqif and free time for lunch on your own

•Driving past the gleaming towers of West Bay on the way to the cultural hub Katara for a walking tour of the mosques, amphitheater and street art

•Visiting The Pearl Qatar, an attraction on a manmade island with resort hotels, exquisite shopping and fine dining

The city tour also includes a visit to the state-of-the-art Education City complex, a collection of university satellite campuses, a mosque and the Qatar National Library.

The Education City Mosque is located in the Minaretein building as a part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Islamic Studies. Designed by Iraqi architect and calligrapher Taha al-Hiti, the mosque’s minarets feature vertical calligraphy that sweeps upward, taking the viewer’s eye heavenward in a contemplation of faith and meaning. The mosque is supported by five pillars, each representing one of Islam’s pillars: Shahada (profession of faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (giving alms), Sawm (fasting) and Hajj (pilgrimage).

Individuals from all backgrounds are welcome to visit the mosque, which can accommodate as many as 2,800 worshippers in the main prayer hall and the exterior courtyard. There are four streams outdoors that irrigate a garden in the center of the building. The streams represent the four rivers of paradise promised in the Qur’an: water, honey, milk and wine. The complex also houses the Qur’anic Botanic Garden, which contains plants been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, along with Qatar’s native flora. Designed to reflect Islamic art and architecture, the garden focuses on harmony, maintaining and preserving plant diversity from around the world

Following the tour of the Education City complex, you will return to the hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    Day 4

After breakfast and check out, transfer by private vehicle to Doha International Airport (DOH) for your flight home. Should you have a late flight, you may store luggage at Reception until your transfer time. Check-out time at the hotel is 12:00pm. Late check-out can only be booked directly with the hotel and depends on availability.

Note: A private van or SUV will be used to transfer couples or parties of two between the airport and the hotel. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces of large luggage (total) plus one carry-on sized bag per person. A sedan will be used for solo guests, which can hold 2 large suitcases and a carry-on. If you will have more luggage, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 14 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required. Transfers are with driver only.
