Land Programs & Hotels

  • Begin your journey with three unforgettable nights in Tokyo, staying at the award-winning 5-star Bellustar Tokyo. Immerse yourself in a city where ancient tradition and cutting-edge modernity exist in perfect harmony. Explore Tokyo’s most iconic sights, from the serene Imperial Palace Plaza - home to the Imperial Family - to sweeping city views from the Tokyo Skytree. Wander the historic streets of Asakusa, visiting the revered Senso-ji Temple and the vibrant Nakamise shopping street, before taking part in an exclusively arranged Shinto ceremony at the sacred Meiji Shrine. This rare and deeply moving experience offers a meaningful introduction to Japan’s rich cultural heritage before your cruise adventure begins.

    Special Notes:

•This program involves walking distances at times over uneven ground. It is not recommended for guests who require use of a wheelchair, walker or cane.

•Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to our local ground operators for review. In Japan, dietary requests including vegetarian cannot be accommodated on the day, so please notify the team in advance for review.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met after you exit from the Custom’s area. Transfer is by a private vehicle to your hotel where the remainder of the day is spent at your leisure. Meals are enjoyed independently.

Note: A private van or SUV will be used to transfer couples or parties of two between the airport and the hotel. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces of large luggage (total) plus one carry-on sized bag per person. A sedan will be used for solo guests, which can hold 2 large suitcases and a carry-on. If you will have more luggage, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 14 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required. Transfers are with driver only.

Check in time is at 3:00pm.

Bellustar Tokyo, a Pan Pacific Hotel, epitomises refined luxury high above the vibrant Shinjuku district. Occupying the uppermost floors of the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, it offers an exclusive sanctuary with panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline. The property features sumptuously designed rooms, blending minimalist Japanese aesthetics with contemporary elegance. Guests enjoy world-class dining, a serene sky spa and exceptional hospitality, all just moments away from Shinjuku Station—placing them at the heart of one of Tokyo’s most dynamic neighbourhoods while maintaining an atmosphere of tranquillity.

Tonight you are invited to a hosted welcome cocktail and canape party in the Bellustar Bar to meet your fellow travellers prior to your adventure in Tokyo.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, start your full-day sightseeing in Tokyo by passing the National Diet Building, the iconic building serves as a symbol of Japan's parliamentary democracy. Construction of the building completed in 1936, was constructed by a variety of stones sourced from around Japan. The walls contain fossilized plants, shells, and even fish skeletons embedded within the stone, then pass by Akasaka Palace, the only Neo-Baroque palace in Japan showcasing Japan's peak Western architectural skills also serving as a key diplomatic venue for world leaders and summits.

Next, move on to visit the Imperial Palace Plaza, which is located at the former site of Edo Castle with surrounded by stone walls. Japan was ruled by Tokugawa Shogun during the Edo period. Edo Castle, having been served as the political center for over 260 years, was handed over to Emperor Meiji in 1868 and became the permanent home of the Imperial Family in 1869. Take the chance to have a view from Double Bridge (Nijubashi), connecting the entrance to the inner palace and the garden. Please note that the inner ground of the palace is not open to the public during your visit.

Travel through the heart of Ginza to experience its exclusive, modern ambiance, then proceed to Tokyo Skytree. As Japan’s tallest tower, Tokyo Skytree was completed in 2012 and stands at 634 meters, making it the tallest free-standing tower in the world. From here, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the city, including the possibility of seeing Mt. Fuji on clear days.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, move on to discover the history and traditions of the old town in Tokyo, Asakusa. Learn of Japanese religious culture at Sensoji Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Tokyo.

Sensoji is dedicated to Kanno, the god of mercy with a long history dating back 1400 years ago and is located at the heart of Asakusa. Enjoy strolling around the Asakusa area and walking down Nakamise Street with the atmosphere of the Edo period. Take a break and look around the shops selling traditional Japanese crafts and sweets.

Transfer back to your hotel where the evening is spent at your leisure.

    Special Note:

Guests might be separated into 2 groups due to capacity of the restaurant. Please ensure that you advise RSSC in advance of any travel companions.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, head to Meiji Shrine, one of the most important shrines in Japan to join an exclusively arranged ceremony called ‘Kigansai’ for safe travel. The Shinto priest passes with bells in front of participants to pray for safe travel, followed by a sacred Shinto dance performed by shrine maidens accompanied by traditional Gagaku music. Bowing twice, clapping hands twice and bowing again to express your gratitude towards the blessings in your daily life. You will receive a token commemorating your attendance in the ceremony.

Walk around Meiji Shrine, one of the most important Shinto shrines covered by a 700,000 square meters of evergreen forest. The forest was built to worship nature and now became an oasis and serves as an artificial lung of the city. Immerse yourself in the Japanese traditional scene amidst greenery nature, enjoy forest bathing and take a moment to appreciate your surroundings and listen to the sound of nature to refresh your mind.

Continue to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, one of the largest and most popular parks. Shinjuku Gyoen is comprised of 3 different styles of gardens. The Japanese landscape garden, French garden and English-style landscape garden. The Japanese garden features large ponds dotted with islands and bridges, and the well-known Kyu Goryotei, also known as the Taiwan Pavilion, donated by Taiwanese residents living in Japan to celebrate the marriage of Emperor Showa and Empress Kojun

Return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Special Note: In the prayer area you will be sitting on tatami mats, and as such will need to take off your shoes before entering. Chairs are not available. Photography is not allowed during the Kigansai. Please also set your cellphone to silent mode. Please be sure to dress modestly to attend the Kigansai, avoiding overly revealing clothing as it is a sacred rite. Lunch and dinner are not included on this day.
