•Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

•Please advise RSSC in advance of any dietary restrictions so they can be reviewed by the local venues. Last-minute notifications may not be able to be accommodated.

    Day 1 - May 19, 2027

After disembarking the ship in Seward, meet your tour director and begin the scenic drive to Girdwood. The road you will travel passes through some of America’s most spectacular scenery and holds three scenic designations: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. On the way, enjoy a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, an organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife. The center is a home and a refuge for many animals; bears, moose, elk, and other wildlife that call Alaska home.

Upon arriving at the Hotel Alyeska and checking in, enjoy a ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska on the aerial tramway (ticket included) for a spectacular view of the surrounding area with its seven glaciers. The rest of the day and evening are to enjoy as you please. Lunch and dinner are on your own. Insiders Tip: the outdoor Nordic Spa at the resort is wonderful! Advance reservations are recommended.

    Day 2 - May 20, 2027

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your scenic tour from Girdwood to Denali via the George Parks Highway, which winds through the kind of scenery that defines the Alaskan interior: tundra, soaring mountain peaks, glaciers, forests, wild rivers, and vast expanses primarily inhabited by animals such as moose, grizzlies, foxes and birds. In time, you will visit an Iditarod Sled Dog Kennel and learn about this truly Alaskan competition.

Traveling from Anchorage to Nome on the Bering Sea coast, each Iditarod team of 12 to 16 dogs and their musher cover 1,150 miles of Alaska’s most rugged terrain in 10 to 17 days. Add temperatures well below zero, scouring winds, and long hours of darkness, and it is no wonder that the Iditarod is called the last Great Race on Earth.

Enjoy a brief panoramic drive through Anchorage en route and once you reach Denali, you will be transferred to the Grande Denali Lodge, which perches on the edge of a bluff less than a mile from the entrance to Denali National Park.

Following an enlightening private lecture on Denali, your evening is free to enjoy dinner on-own and an overnight at the lodge.

    Day 3 - May 21, 2027

The day starts with an early breakfast at your hotel and then a 4–5-hour Denali Natural History Tour which focuses on the rich natural and cultural history of Denali National Park. Along the way, your naturalist driver-guide will provide a great introduction to the landscape, geology, and history of the Denali National Park and Preserve. Several interpretive stops along the way enhance the tour.

Beginning with a stop at the Denali Bus Depot, learn about the creation of the Denali Park Road with the film “Across Time and Tundra.” Next, visit the historical Savage Cabin to learn how the cabin was once used, and how it continues to be used today. Finally, a stop at Primrose Ridge to experience a memorable Alaska Native presentation that will enlighten you with how the land has been used for nearly 10,000 years.

Note: Tours are conducted in Denali National Park buses which are similar to school buses.

Upon returning to the lodge, enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. The excursion team at the hotel or your Tour Director can provide you with a list of options (at own cost) that will be available during your stay. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

    Day 4 - May 22, 2027

After a leisurely breakfast, check out mid-morning and transfer to the Denali Railroad depot where you will board an Alaska Railroad train. As you travel the 4.5 hours to Talkeetna, seating is upstairs in the Dome car where you will enjoy views from all sides of the railcar and lunch is included downstairs in the dining room. Arrive in the town of Talkeetna, whose downtown is a National Historic Site.

Continuing south by coach, you will drive to Anchorage and check-in at the Marriott Hotel in Anchorage. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy as you please. Dinner is on your own.

    Day 5 - May 23, 2027

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the Anchorage airport for your flight to Juneau, Alaska. Transfer from Juneau Airport to your cruise ship is included.

    Land Program Step by Step:

Please note: The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. This program is subject to flight confirmations which are beyond our control. The average temperature in Alaska at this time of the year is 55° to 65° F (12-18° C).

    What to Bring:

Warm clothing, rain jacket, binoculars, comfortable supportive walking shoes, camera, chargers

With a broad variety of weather possibilities, we encourage you to bring clothes that are suited to layering. Daytime attire in Alaska is strictly casual.

    Local Currency:

    US Dollar

    Electricity:

The electric current in the United States is 110 volts. You may need a universal travel converter if you have 220-volt devices.

    Luggage information

We suggest guests bring a carryon bag with them for this short program. Any checked luggage will be subject to airline fees payable at the time of check-in. Please keep in mind the general aviation rules for liquids in a carry-on.

    Alaska Airlines Baggage Policy:

One carry-on bag is permitted at no fee, which, including wheels and handles, can measure up to 24 inches in length x 17 inches in width x 10 inches in height (61 x 43 x 25 cm), plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop computer.

*Please refer to the Alaska Airlines website for information on fees for checking luggage on the flight as this information is subject to change. Generally, the charge is $35 for the first checked bag and $25 for a second bag however if you are a Club 49 member or American AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum, and Gold Elite Level members, different rules may apply.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

    1. Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.

    2. CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

    3. CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

Please bring your valid passport with you on this trip. Guests will be required to show identification when boarding the flight.

    Accommodation:

Hotel Alyeska – 1000 Arlberg Ave, Girdwood, AK 99587

Grande Denali Lodge - George Parks Hwy, AK 99755

    Marriott Hotel Anchorage – 820 W 7th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501

The best available hotels and lodges in Alaska are used throughout the land program. They are comfortable and somewhat rustic. Guests accustomed to the level of services at an international five-star hotel will find that the same services are not available in Alaska. Hotels are subject to change.

*We will only source different hotels in unforeseen situations. If similar hotels are required, they will be of equal ratings and standards, and you will be notified of the change. If you are not notified of any changes before your departure, then you will be staying at the hotels listed in this program.

Travel in Alaska is generally at lower elevations. The maximum altitude is 2,800 feet in Denali National Park.
