Land Programs & Hotels

  • See highlights that define Seattle before crossing into Canada to explore beautiful Victoria or the wilds surrounding Whistler as a prelude to an enlightening look at historical Vancouver.

NOTE: this program starts in Seattle, Washington (USA) and ends in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) where guests will board the ship. Arrival flights need to be booked into Seattle’s Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

Due to the nature of this program, it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or for those that require use of a wheelchair.

When reserving this program, please make sure to advise which option you prefer on Day 3 and let us know if you have any special dietary requirements. The team at RSSC Reservations can assist in adding these details to your booking.

    DAY 1

On arrival at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), identify and collect baggage and meet our local representative who will get you on your transfer to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel or similar.

Built in 1924 and located in the heart of the city, the legendary Fairmont Olympic Hotel offers breathtaking architecture featuring rich character and history, an innovative culinary experience and best-in-class service.

Check-in time at the hotel is 4:00pm. Although every effort will be made for the room to be available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed.

Spend the remainder of the day and evening at leisure.

Meals are on your own today.

    DAY 2

Board a luxury motorcoach and take a drive around the city to catch glimpse of some of Seattle’s most affluent neighborhoods. Each one tells a different part of the story of how Seattle went from a Wild West hub to the metropolis it is today. Enjoy an informative driving tour of the city from the perspective of a Seattleite, who will recount history and interesting stories that make the city unique.

A mid-way stop is made in Everett at the Boeing Future of Flight Aviation Center. A tour here takes you through the history of aviation in the Pacific Northwest with their impressive gallery and hands-on exhibits. Boxed lunches will be served following the tour and the journey will continue across the US / Canada border and into Vancouver, British Columbia.

Note: The group will pass through the US/Canada border including Canadian Customs and Immigration. Guests may or may not have to disembark the bus. Passports must be on hand and anyone requiring Visa’s to enter Canada should have their documents available.

After crossing the border, proceed directly to your hotel for the next two nights - Rosewood Hotel Georgia or similar. The hotel is located a short walk from renowned Stanley Park, art galleries, world-class museums, boutiques and Vancouver’s finest restaurants.

Dinner is on own this evening.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, guests will depart on their pre-selected excursion for the day.

Guests should contact RSSC Reservations prior to 60 days before departure to make their selection.

Option 1: The Best of Victoria

Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is located on gorgeous Vancouver Island and is considered one of the world’s most beautiful cities. It is famous for the historic Empress Hotel, the Parliament buildings, and the Butchart Gardens.

Upon leaving Vancouver, you will take a scenic ferry ride from the Vancouver mainland through the Gulf Islands to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. Upon arrival on the island, you will visit the internationally renowned Butchart Gardens. This National Historic Site began with an exhausted limestone quarry that was transformed into the now picturesque Sunken Garden. Today the garden showcases 55 acres of themed garden displays, including a Japanese Garden, Italian Garden and Rose Garden. Enjoy High Tea at the Butchart Gardens. High tea includes a selection of items including trifle, scones, savory sandwiches and delicacies, homemade sweets and a selection of teas.

From here, drive to Victoria’s downtown area which features the Inner Harbor, The Fairmont Empress Hotel, Mile 0 and historic Chinatown. There will be free time to explore downtown Victoria at your own pace. Wind down the day with the scenic return sail aboard BC Ferries and then return by luxury coach to your hotel. The evening is at your leisure with dinner on own.

    Option 2: Wonders of Whistler

Escape the city and emerge in the wilderness nestled against Vancouver. Journey via luxury coach the Sea to Sky Highway, alongside a coastal fjord and the rugged Coast Mountain Range. Stop along the way to ride the Sea to Sky gondola and ascend 850 meters (930 yards) to the top to soak up the panoramic perspectives of Howe Sound cradled by the Coast Mountains. It’s here that you can cross the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge and walk along forest trails to the observation platforms. The tour then continues north to Whistler Resort.

Upon arrival in Whistler, visit the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre (SLCC). Following the tour of SLCC, join a short, guided walking tour of Whistler Village (optional). After learning a bit about Whistler and getting a lay of the land, there is plenty of free time to explore at our own pace. Visit the shops, stop in an art gallery, or do as the locals do and find the perfect patio along the village stroll for a moment to relax at this stunning mountain resort. When your time in Whistler is coming to a close, re-board the bus and enjoy the scenic drive back along the Sea to Sky Highway to where your tour began. Back in Vancouver, enjoy an evening at leisure with dinner on own. Lunch is included at the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre.

    DAY 4

    Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

After checkout, transfer to the ship via a half day Vancouver highlights tour, including a visit to Stanley Park.

Visit the gems that make Vancouver the vibrant city it is. The tour begins with a drive through Gastown, Vancouver’s Oldest neighborhood, and continues through culturally rich Chinatown, a melting pot of Asian cuisines and stores. Then enjoy a visit to Stanley Park, where there is one of the most impressive collections of totem poles in downtown Vancouver. Tour past English Bay Beach and on to Granville Island, home of Vancouver’s most famous food market. Hidden gems on the Island will be pointed out to ensure they are not missed.

Your tour ends at the Port of Vancouver where you will board the ship.

  • Explore historical and modern landmarks in Tokyo and then travel south to Hakone for a lake cruise in the shadow of Mt. Fuji and an enlightening visit to a meticulously reconstructed 15th-century castle.

    DAY 1

After disembarking the ship, you will enjoy a half-day tour of Tokyo starting with a visit to the traditional Hamarikyu Gardens located alongside Tokyo Bay. Hamarikyu is a typical example of gardens from the Edo Period. It features the only seawater pond in Tokyo which change levels with the tides and a teahouse on an island where visitors can enjoy the scenery. From 1704, when this teahouse was first built, the Shoguns, and other elites such as Imperial Court nobles, who never tired of the relaxed atmosphere and the wonderful view of the place, used it continuously.

Next, it’s on to Tokyo Tower, Japan’s second highest structure, which was built in 1958 as a symbol of Japan’s rebirth. After riding an elevator to the nearly 500-foot-high Grand Observation Platform, you will be treated to an astounding view of the city. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt. Fuji.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to your Odawara hotel to relax at your leisure. A bountiful buffet dinner will be served at the hotel. However, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please before you spend the evening at the hotel.

NOTE: In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. Per Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.

    DAY 2

Today, you will visit Hakone, a part of the Fuji National Park. Upon arriving at Sounzan (1-hour drive), you will board the Ropeway, a 30-minute aerial tram ride that affords you wonderful views of the Owakudani Valley. In time, you will stop at Lake Ashi for a scenic cruise. The crystal-clear lake was formed about 3,000 years ago in the caldera left after the volcanic eruption of Mount Hakone. If the conditions are ideal, as they often are, you will see Mt. Fuji and its inverted reflection on the water.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On the return to the hotel, you will stop at Odawara Castle, which was originally built in the mid-15th century. The structure was destroyed in the latter half of the 19th century when political power changed from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, and the castle was condemned as the symbol of the samurai.

The castle that now stands is a reconstruction from 1960. However, the moat and stone walls are originals. The

castle is a three-tiered, five-storied donjon, and its top floor is an observatory. A traditional Japanese Kaiseki (multi course) dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.

    DAY 3

After checking out the hotel, you will be transferred back to Tokyo. Back in the city you will visit the Asakusa (Senso-ji Temple) which was founded in the early 7th century. Weather permitting you will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern.

The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered.

Your tour also strolls down Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs and handmade crafts.

A traditional Japanese style BBQ lunch will be served before you drive to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Dinner is on your own

    DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Check out is at 12:00pm. You will be transferred to the Narita or Haneda Airport per your flight details. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage is available at the hotel.
