Land Programs & Hotels

  • See highlights that define Seattle before crossing into Canada to explore beautiful Victoria or the wilds surrounding Whistler as a prelude to an enlightening look at historical Vancouver.

NOTE: this program starts in Seattle, Washington (USA) and ends in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) where guests will board the ship. Arrival flights need to be booked into Seattle’s Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

Due to the nature of this program, it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or for those that require use of a wheelchair.

When reserving this program, please make sure to advise which option you prefer on Day 3 and let us know if you have any special dietary requirements. The team at RSSC Reservations can assist in adding these details to your booking.

    DAY 1

On arrival at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), identify and collect baggage and meet our local representative who will get you on your transfer to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel or similar.

Built in 1924 and located in the heart of the city, the legendary Fairmont Olympic Hotel offers breathtaking architecture featuring rich character and history, an innovative culinary experience and best-in-class service.

Check-in time at the hotel is 4:00pm. Although every effort will be made for the room to be available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed.

Spend the remainder of the day and evening at leisure.

Meals are on your own today.

    DAY 2

Board a luxury motorcoach and take a drive around the city to catch glimpse of some of Seattle’s most affluent neighborhoods. Each one tells a different part of the story of how Seattle went from a Wild West hub to the metropolis it is today. Enjoy an informative driving tour of the city from the perspective of a Seattleite, who will recount history and interesting stories that make the city unique.

A mid-way stop is made in Everett at the Boeing Future of Flight Aviation Center. A tour here takes you through the history of aviation in the Pacific Northwest with their impressive gallery and hands-on exhibits. Boxed lunches will be served following the tour and the journey will continue across the US / Canada border and into Vancouver, British Columbia.

Note: The group will pass through the US/Canada border including Canadian Customs and Immigration. Guests may or may not have to disembark the bus. Passports must be on hand and anyone requiring Visa’s to enter Canada should have their documents available.

After crossing the border, proceed directly to your hotel for the next two nights - Rosewood Hotel Georgia or similar. The hotel is located a short walk from renowned Stanley Park, art galleries, world-class museums, boutiques and Vancouver’s finest restaurants.

Dinner is on own this evening.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, guests will depart on their pre-selected excursion for the day.

Guests should contact RSSC Reservations prior to 60 days before departure to make their selection.

Option 1: The Best of Victoria

Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is located on gorgeous Vancouver Island and is considered one of the world’s most beautiful cities. It is famous for the historic Empress Hotel, the Parliament buildings, and the Butchart Gardens.

Upon leaving Vancouver, you will take a scenic ferry ride from the Vancouver mainland through the Gulf Islands to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. Upon arrival on the island, you will visit the internationally renowned Butchart Gardens. This National Historic Site began with an exhausted limestone quarry that was transformed into the now picturesque Sunken Garden. Today the garden showcases 55 acres of themed garden displays, including a Japanese Garden, Italian Garden and Rose Garden. Enjoy High Tea at the Butchart Gardens. High tea includes a selection of items including trifle, scones, savory sandwiches and delicacies, homemade sweets and a selection of teas.

From here, drive to Victoria’s downtown area which features the Inner Harbor, The Fairmont Empress Hotel, Mile 0 and historic Chinatown. There will be free time to explore downtown Victoria at your own pace. Wind down the day with the scenic return sail aboard BC Ferries and then return by luxury coach to your hotel. The evening is at your leisure with dinner on own.

    Option 2: Wonders of Whistler

Escape the city and emerge in the wilderness nestled against Vancouver. Journey via luxury coach the Sea to Sky Highway, alongside a coastal fjord and the rugged Coast Mountain Range. Stop along the way to ride the Sea to Sky gondola and ascend 850 meters (930 yards) to the top to soak up the panoramic perspectives of Howe Sound cradled by the Coast Mountains. It’s here that you can cross the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge and walk along forest trails to the observation platforms. The tour then continues north to Whistler Resort.

Upon arrival in Whistler, visit the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre (SLCC). Following the tour of SLCC, join a short, guided walking tour of Whistler Village (optional). After learning a bit about Whistler and getting a lay of the land, there is plenty of free time to explore at our own pace. Visit the shops, stop in an art gallery, or do as the locals do and find the perfect patio along the village stroll for a moment to relax at this stunning mountain resort. When your time in Whistler is coming to a close, re-board the bus and enjoy the scenic drive back along the Sea to Sky Highway to where your tour began. Back in Vancouver, enjoy an evening at leisure with dinner on own. Lunch is included at the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre.

    DAY 4

    Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

After checkout, transfer to the ship via a half day Vancouver highlights tour, including a visit to Stanley Park.

Visit the gems that make Vancouver the vibrant city it is. The tour begins with a drive through Gastown, Vancouver’s Oldest neighborhood, and continues through culturally rich Chinatown, a melting pot of Asian cuisines and stores. Then enjoy a visit to Stanley Park, where there is one of the most impressive collections of totem poles in downtown Vancouver. Tour past English Bay Beach and on to Granville Island, home of Vancouver’s most famous food market. Hidden gems on the Island will be pointed out to ensure they are not missed.

Your tour ends at the Port of Vancouver where you will board the ship.

  • From your base in Tokyo, you will visit some of the most impressive sights of Japan, including various ancient temples as well as some of its modern and natural wonders. Tour the 7th-century Sensoji Temple in Asakusa and visit the Odaiba Observation Deck, located in the headquarters of Fuji Television. Discover Tokyo’s fascinating Shogun history or Japan’s rich tradition of art at superb museums, stroll through beautiful gardens and during your leisure time, perhaps take in the high-energy atmosphere of Ginza, Tokyo’s premier shopping and entertainment district.

    DAY 1

Upon disembarkation in either Tokyo or Yokohama you will be met by your guide at the port and begin your tour of Tokyo.

Visit the modern Odaiba area. When the sprawling metropolis, that is Tokyo nowadays, ran out of space, they inevitably turned toward the sea. Odaiba is a man-made island created by massive landfills, featuring many hypermodern and strange buildings memorably described as the result of a Pre-schooler’s architecture class. You will have the chance to enjoy it from above, during a visit to an observation deck, located in one of Odaiba’s most iconic buildings: the headquarters of Fuji Television.

Continue to the beautiful Hamarikyu Garden, an Edo Period Japanese garden surrounded by the Shiodome district’s futuristic skyscrapers. This provides a great example of how Japan is the land of contrasts. The garden was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period, but later served as a strolling garden and as an Imperial detached palace before eventually being opened to the public in its current form.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit the Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji, the father of modern Japan, the beautiful shrine stands in a dense forest glade of some 120,000 trees of 365 different species, at the very heart of Tokyo. The setting symbolizes the separation of the spiritual from the worldly. You enter the shrine through twin 40-feet tall Torii gates, one of the largest in all Japan. This shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, if you are lucky, you might get see one.

Continue to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure with dinner on your own.

NOTE: In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. Per Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, depart on a half-day tour of the city.

Visit the Tokyo National Museum established 1872, it is one of the oldest museums in Japan. The Museum Collection comprises art and archaeological objects of Asia, focusing on Japan. There are a total of approximately 120,000 objects of which 89 are National Treasures and 649 Important Cultural Properties.

Continue to the Ginza area, one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. The streets in Ginza are lined with numerous departments stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Upon arrival you will enjoy some free time to browse, shop or perhaps visit some of the free galleries.

You can choose to either remain in Ginza and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will begin yet another half-day tour of Tokyo, allowing you to see the city from a different perspective.

You will first journey to the Asakusa area – part of Tokyo’s Old Town. Visit the Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, which was founded in the early 7th century. Weather permitting, you will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern to view the shrine. The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered. One of the highlights is a walk down Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs, and handmade crafts.

Stop for photos at the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit), where Japan’s Emperor and Empress reside. Surrounded by a moat, the palace was formerly known as Edo Castle, and samurai warriors lived there in the 17th through 19th centuries. In the large plaza in front of the palace, you can view the famed Nijubashi—two bridges that form an entrance to the inner palace grounds. The stone bridge in front is called Meganebashi (Eyeglass Bridge) for its looks.

You can choose to either remain in the area and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

Enjoy one last breakfast at your hotel before checking out and transferring to either the Narita or the Haneda International Airports. Your transfer time will be based on the flight details provided and relayed while you are on the program. Should you have a late departing flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel. Check out time is at 12:00pm.

    NOTE:

The day the Tokyo National Museum & the Odaiba Observation deck are visited varies, as both are closed on Mondays.
