Just as Iceland is a unique country, rugged and remote, yet modern and enjoying Nordic standards of affluence, so Reykjavik is a beautifully diverse capital city. As Iceland's capital and its main center of population, the city of Reykjavik offers a fascinating mixture of the traditional and the very technically advanced. In addition, its natural beauty leaves a lasting impression. Visit the remarkable solfatara fields of Krýsuvík where you’ll discover an expanse of steaming volcanic vents and boiling hot springs, framed dramatically by a range of multi-colored hills.

Reykjavik

All programs below may not be available on every sailing.
  • PRE - IDYLLIC ICELAND CODE: REKL52

View the staggeringly beautiful natural wonders of Iceland – known as the Land of Fire and Ice for its volcanoes and glaciers – and come away with a deep respect for the country’s strict environmental policies.

Special Note: Due to limited access at some sites, this program is not recommended for guests with extreme walking difficulty or for those who require the use of a wheelchair.

    DAY 1

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, you will transfer to your city-based hotel.

Check in time is at 3:00pm. Should your flight be scheduled to arrive sooner than this, you may wish to purchase an extra night so your room is ready upon your arrival. Otherwise, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your room is available.

Note: Described as “Modern Scandi Bliss”, your hotel is located in the heart of the city. Although the rooms are comfortable, they are basic. Your room type includes complimentary access to the hotel’s spa.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance. It is located in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. The site is also where Iceland’s Parliament was founded in 930 AD. Thingvellir became Iceland’s first national park in 1930 and is home to Iceland’s largest natural lake, Thingvallavatn. Visit Öxarárfoss Waterfall.

Continuing on, you will head for the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley, home to the Geysir hot spring. Although Geysir doesn’t erupt often, it is surrounded by bubbling cauldrons of superheated mud, steaming pools and Strokkur, a geyser that erupts every 6-10 minutes. The geothermal activity at this popular destination is much like that happening all across and beneath Iceland that naturally powers countless hot tubs, swimming pools and greenhouses.

That same energy is used to bake bread underground at the aptly named Geothermal Bakery. After learning about the process, give it a try! You can slather on butter and top the bread with a piece of herring or trout. Note: The process of baking and extracting the bread from the ground is only done at certain times in the day. Seeing this process cannot be guaranteed.

You will next visit Gullfoss Waterfalls, whose name comes from the golden color of its water as it churns up silt and sediment. These magnificent waterfalls in the Hvitá River are fed by Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. The cascades are more than 100 feet high and fall in two tiers making for a magnificent sight. If not for the tenacity of a local environmental activist, Gullfoss would have been covered by the waters of a proposed hydroelectric dam.

After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Friðheimar farm which offers a horse show called Meeting with the Icelandic Horse. The show gives you an insight into the story of this remarkable horse breed which was brought to Iceland by the first settlers from Scandinavia around 900 AD. The Icelandic horse is small, sturdy breed, famed for its five gaits: in addition to the walk, trot and gallop, Icelandic horses have the tölt (a smooth run) and skeið (flying pace).

Finally, you will see Kerið, a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area that is one of the most visually stunning geological wonders in the country. This vibrant blue gem, which is part of the Western Volcanic Zone that includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the Langjökull Glacier, is it one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters in Iceland because of its unique red rock.

Once you return to your hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a full day of touring South Iceland. While traveling through a mountain pass and into fertile farmland, you will enjoy astonishing views of the countryside, especially along this section of the Ring Road, which is flanked by rugged mountains, glittering glaciers and towering volcanoes.

A comfort stop will be made at LAVA Center where you will see a short educational movie about volcanic activity that reveals the lava theme that is an integral part of Iceland especially now with the active eruption near Grindavik.

Depending on the weather conditions, you may see Eyjafjallajökull, the site of a volcanic eruption in 2010 that was so enormous that its ash cloud halted Europe’s air traffic for several days.

Behold the beauty of Seljalandsfoss waterfall as it tumbles off Eyjafjallajökull Glacier into a deep pool below. If you don’t mind getting wet, you can walk behind the cascade to see it from the other side.

Just before lunch, an exterior visit is made at Vik Church, famous for its postcard views and after lunch you will stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara. The basalt sea stacks rising out of the water there are absolutely spectacular.

From a distance, view Sólheimajökull Glacier, a glacier tongue of Mýrdalsjökull – the 4th largest glacier in Iceland and then visit Skógafoss Waterfall, one of the largest waterfalls in the country. Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is frequently seen on sunny days.

Upon returning to your hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will drive to Perlan, a nature museum with a revolving observation deck that offers a stunning 360° view of Reykjavik.

Then, it’s off to the world’s only live lava show, a highly engaging experience that recreates a volcanic eruption by superheating real lava that slowly flows into a special area of the showroom. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows you to get so close to molten lava that you can hear it sizzling and feel its intense heat.

After the show, you will drive to the port of Reykjavik for embarkation.

  • PRE - IDYLLIC ICELAND - GROUP 4 CODE: REKL58

Your room type includes access to the spa.

  • POST - IDYLLIC ICELAND - GROUP 2 CODE: REKL55

View the staggeringly beautiful natural wonders of Iceland – known as the Land of Fire and Ice for its volcanoes and glaciers – and come away with a deep respect for the country’s strict environmental policies.

Special Note: Due to limited access as various sites, this program is not recommended for guests with extreme walking difficulty or for those who require the use of a wheelchair.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in Reykjavik, meet your guide and start out on a brief city tour en-route to your hotel.

Note: make sure to eat a hearty breakfast before your departure.

Begin with a drive to Perlan, a nature museum with a revolving observation deck that offers a stunning 360° view of Reykjavik.

Then, it’s off to the world’s only live lava show, a highly engaging experience that recreates a volcanic eruption by superheating real lava that slowly flows into a special area of the showroom. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows you to get so close to real molten lava that you can hear it sizzling and feel its intense heat.

Finally, transfer to your city-based hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own. The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk will be glad to recommend further sightseeing and dining options.

Note: Described as “Modern Scandi Bliss”, your hotel is located in the heart of the city. Although the rooms are comfortable, they are basic. Your room type includes complimentary access to the hotel’s spa.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel meet your guide and depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance.

Continuing, you will head for the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley, home to the Geysir hot spring.

Once you return to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Just before lunch an exterior visit is made at Vik Church, famous for its postcard views and after lunch you will stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you are transferred to Keflavík International Airport for your flight. Transfers will be set up according to the flight details provided. Luggage storage is available at the hotel for guests with later flights. Check out time at the hotel is at 12:00pm.

    What to Bring:

Warm layered clothing such as thermals, fleece and a good jacket, bathing suit, good sturdy shoes, medicines, hat, sunscreen, camera, chargers

    Local Currency:

Local currency is Icelandic Krona. However, many companies accept EUR, GBP and USD bills only, no coins and change is given back in ISK.

    Electricity

European standard 220 Volts. We recommend bringing your own travel adaptor for electric devices.

    Luggage information

Luggage will accompany the group. Although staying in the best hotels in the area, porterage service is not a standard service in Icelandic hotels. Very few hotels in Iceland have porterage staff full time and if they do it is normally 1 porter. As a result, you could experience a delay in delivering your luggage to your room depending on the size of the group. You may prefer to take your suitcase with you to your rooms.

For guests who use a CPAP breathing machine:

Many hotels do not readily provide distilled water. While we can request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If the request is received and added to your land program booking in a timely manner, at least 100 days before sailing, it will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Most hotels will charge you for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

A passport that is valid for at least 6 months after travel is required.

Please check with your local embassy for any visa requirements for your nationality.

The above information is subject to change and serves as a guide only. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our guests that it is the ultimate and sole responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination.

If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/ or connecting through may have different document requirements and as such we encourage you to visit the government and airport websites of every country you will be traveling to throughout the journey to familiarize yourself with their requirements.

There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. • POST - IDYLLIC ICELAND - GROUP 3 CODE: REKL59

We have included access to the hotel’s spa.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel meet your guide and depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance.

Continuing, you will head for the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley, home to the Geysir hot spring.

Once you return to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Just before lunch an exterior visit is made at Vik Church, famous for its postcard views and after lunch you will stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara.

    Expected Weather

The weather in Reykjavik averages around 54 F (12 C) in summer. Iceland's summer starts in late May or early June and lasts through August. The midnight sun appears, meaning the days are incredibly long. The longest days last close to 21 hours until the sun sets.

Geysir bread experience: The site is located on a small hill with no vehicle access. Guests must walk a few meters but there is no pathway and the gate is narrow so a wheelchair will not fit through.

Solheimajokull: Not accessible and glacier cannot be seen from the parking area

At the harbor end of the city, overlooking the bay and mountains, Center Hotels Arnarhvoll offers some of the best views in Reykjavik and the rooftop SKÝ Bar is a must see.

  • POST - ICELAND DISCOVERY CODE: REKL36

Behold the seemingly endless natural beauty of Iceland by visiting thundering waterfalls, ancient glaciers, geothermal hot springs and a gorgeous black sand beach that attests to the country’s volcanic creation.

NOTE: This program begins in Southampton, England where guests will disembark the ship and ends in Reykjavik, Iceland. Guests need to fly out of Iceland’s Keflavík Airport (KEF) on the last day of the program. An economy class internal flight between England and Iceland is included in this program and will be booked by RSSC.

Special Note: This program is not recommended for guests with extreme walking difficulty or for those who require the use of a wheelchair. Guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on the internal flight.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in London and transfer to the airport for a flight to Reykjavik, Iceland.

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, you will be met and transferred to the Reykjavík Grand Hotel.

Note: Although the rooms are comfortable, they are quite basic.

Check in time at the hotel is at 3:00pm.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining.

If any flight delays are encountered while enroute, guests should proceed to the airline counter for updates. Downloading the free airline app will also keep guests current of any changes and in the event of a cancellation or delay, the airline will notify them, via the app, of their new schedule.

Should guests have any questions pertaining to the internal air segment on this program, please call RSSC at 1.844.519.9613 (weekdays: 8:30 am - 8:00 pm EST, Saturday:9:30 am - 5:30 pm EST, Sunday: closed). Dial 7 if after regular business hours

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance.

After learning about the process, you will help extract a loaf of dark rye bread from the ground oven and sample it. If you wish, you can slather on butter and top the bread with a piece of herring or trout.

Later, you will see Kerið, a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area that is one of the most visually stunning geological wonders in the country. This vibrant blue gem, which is part of the Western Volcanic Zone that includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the Langjökull Glacier, is it one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters in Iceland because of its unique red rock.

Once you return to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Depending on the weather conditions, you may see Eyjafjallajökull, the site of a volcanic eruption in 2010 that was so enormous that its ash cloud halted Europe’s air traffic for several days.

Later, you will behold the beauty of Seljalandsfoss waterfall as it tumbles off Eyjafjallajökull Glacier into a deep pool below. If you don’t mind getting wet, you can walk behind the cascade to see it from the other side.

You will also see the majestic waterfall Skógafoss and stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara. The basalt sea stacks rising out of the water there are absolutely spectacular.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will be transferred to the REK airport for your flight home. Check out time at the hotel is at 12:00pm. There is luggage storage available at the hotel for guests with later flights. Airport transfers are booked in accordance with the flight details received.

    2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type).

    3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

    4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which the cruise line nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

    5. Guests should bring with them on the flight any paperwork from their doctor and/or specific details that explain the type of device they are bringing on board. Each brand should have a website with paperwork that can be printed for flight.

Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Failure to have the required documents ahead of time will result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program.

The above information is subject to change and serves as a guide only. It is the ultimate and sole responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination.

If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/or connecting through may have different document requirements and as such we encourage you to visit the government and airport websites of every country you will be traveling to throughout the journey to familiarize yourself with their requirements.

  • PRE - IDYLLIC ICELAND - 2025 CODE: REKL50

Note: Described as a “stylish hotel in the heart of Reykjavik”, your hotel is a landmark building which has the perfect address for exploring the city sights. Although the rooms are comfortable, they are basic.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining.

Solheimajokull: Not accessible and glacier cannot be seen from the parking area

  • PRE - ICELAND DISCOVERY CODE: REKL32

Behold the seemingly endless natural beauty of Iceland by visiting thundering waterfalls, ancient glaciers, geothermal hot springs and a gorgeous black sand beach that attests to the country’s volcanic creation.

NOTE: This program begins in Reykjavik, Iceland and ends in Southampton, England where guests will board the ship. Guests need to fly into Iceland’s Keflavík Airport (KEF) for the start of this program. An economy class internal flight between Iceland and England is included in this program and will be booked by RSSC.

    DAY 1

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, you will transfer to the Fosshotel Reykjavík for a 3 pm check-in.

Note: Although the rooms are comfortable, they are quite basic and may face an inner courtyard or the street.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining. There is plenty to see nearby as Fosshotel is just a short walk from the main shopping area.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance.

    DAY 4

Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the REK airport for your flight to the UK. Upon arrival in London, you will proceed through Customs and Immigration. After luggage claim, you will be met and assisted with a transfer to the port of Southampton where you will board the ship.

    DAY 1

After a hearty breakfast on board, disembark the ship in Reykjavik, meet your guide and start out on a brief city tour en-route to your hotel. Highlights include a photo stop at Hallgrimskirkja church, a short walk in the city center, a view of the Parliament Building and surrounding sights and a panoramic drive passing by Höfði House, Harpa Concert Hall.

Next, drive to Perlan, a nature museum with a revolving observation deck that offers a stunning 360° view of Reykjavik.

    DAY 2

Just before lunch an exterior visit is made at Vik Church, famous for its postcard views and after lunch you will stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

After breakfast at the hotel meet your guide and depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance. It is located in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. The site is also where Iceland’s Parliament was founded in 930 AD.

The weather in Reykjavik averages around 54 F (12 C) in summer. Iceland's summer starts in late May or early June and lasts through August. The midnight sun appears, meaning the days are incredibly long. The longest days last close to 21 hours until the sun sets.

Black sand beach: Gravel parking area

Solheimajokull: Not accessible and glacier cannot be seen from the parking area

  • PRE - IDYLLIC ICLEAND - 2026 CODE: REKL61

    Special Notes:

This program involves walking at times over uneven and/or icy ground and some sites have limited access. As such, this program is not recommended for guests with walking difficulty or for those who require the use of a wheelchair, walker or cane.

As part of our commitment to providing you with an authentic dining experience, we want to let you know that some of the included meals may feature fish as either an appetizer or main course, since fish is a staple in the Icelandic diet.

If you have any food intolerances or special dietary needs, please inform us prior to your departure for review by our local vendors. It is important that your land program extension reflects these details to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, we are unable to make changes to the menu on the day of the meal, so advance notice is essential.

    DAY 1

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, you will transfer to your city-based hotel.

Check in time is at 3:00pm. Should your flight be scheduled to arrive sooner than this, you may wish to purchase an extra night, so your room is ready upon your arrival. Otherwise, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your room is available.

Note: Described as “Modern Scandi Bliss”, your hotel is located in the heart of the city. Although the rooms are comfortable, they are basic.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining.

    DAY 2

    DAY 3

    DAY 4

Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the REK airport for your flight to the UK. Upon arrival in London, you will proceed through Customs and Immigration. After luggage claim, you will be met and assisted with a transfer to the port of Southampton where you will board the ship.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance.
