Land Programs & Hotels

  • Explore Qatar’s capital of Doha – a harmonious mix of modern and traditional attractions. Enjoy a dinner cruise on a wooden dhow and race through the surrounding desert in a 4x4 vehicle.

    DAY 1

After arriving at the Doha International Airport (DOH), you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Check-in is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early flight, you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee your room upon arrival.

You may also store your luggage at Reception and start enjoying the facilities of your hotel upon arrival or perhaps take a stroll to see some of the sites close by while you wait for your room to be ready.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel into the surrounding desert in an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle. To improve traction in the deep sand, the tires of the vehicle will be deflated. Then, off you will go, racing through the desert dunes in an exhilarating activity known as dune bashing. The driver is highly experienced at negotiating the shifting sands at ever-changing speeds.

Note: The dune bashing activity will be bumpy and dusty. It is not recommended for guests who are or may be pregnant or those who have a bad back.

A traditional lunch follows at the seafront desert camp, which is a collection of huts furnished with beach beds and Arabic carpets. Other facilities include gazebos, restrooms and a sunken firepit.

In time, you will drive back to the hotel to freshen up before boarding a traditional wooden dhow for a dinner cruise around Doha Bay. The city will be beautifully illuminated as you pass landmarks such as The Pearl, a manmade island with high-end residential towers, marinas and shops. The dhow will maintain a fairly slow speed that is ideal for sightseeing and snapping photos of the city.

After disembarking, you will return to the hotel for the evening.

    DAY 3

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will tour Doha, the capital of Qatar and a city that embraces modernity yet still preserves the nuances of the Arab tradition. The highlights include:

*A tram tour of historical downtown Doha and "the world's smartest and most sustainable fully built city district.“

*Browsing the Souq Waqif, a traditional bazaar with myriad of shops full of merchandise such as ceramics, fabrics, spices, Arab sweets, perfumes, candied fruit and traditional clothing.

*Stopping for Arabic sweets and tea at Souq Waqif and free time for lunch on your own.

*Driving past the gleaming towers of West Bay on the way to the cultural hub Katara for a walking tour of the mosques, amphitheater and street art.

*Visiting The Pearl Qatar, an attraction on a manmade island with resort hotels, exquisite shopping and fine dining.

The city tour also includes visiting the state-of-the-art Education City complex, a collection of university satellite campuses, a mosque and the Qatar National Library.

The Education City Mosque is located in the Minaretein building as a part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Islamic Studies. Designed by Iraqi architect and calligrapher Taha al-Hiti, the mosque’s minarets feature vertical calligraphy that sweeps upward, taking the viewer’s eye heavenward in a contemplation of faith and meaning. The mosque is supported by five pillars, each representing one of Islam’s pillars: Shahada (profession of faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (giving alms), Sawm (fasting) and Hajj (pilgrimage).

Individuals from all backgrounds are welcome to visit the mosque, which can accommodate as many as 2,800 worshippers in the main prayer hall and the exterior courtyard. There are four streams outdoors that irrigate a garden in the center of the building. The streams represent the four rivers of paradise promised in the Qur’an: water, honey, milk and wine. The complex also houses the Qur’anic Botanic Garden, which contains plants been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, along with Qatar’s native flora. Designed to reflect Islamic art and architecture, the garden focuses on harmony, maintaining and preserving plant diversity from around the world.

Following the tour of the Education City complex, you will return to the hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    Day 4

After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the National Museum of Qatar for delightful encounter with Qatar’s past, present and future. The design of the museum resembles the naturally occurring crystal formations known as the desert rose.

Built around Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani’s original palace and the seat of government for 25 years, the National Museum of Qatar gives voice to Qatar’s heritage and celebrates its future. Exhibitions combine historic objects and contemporary influences, opening up a dialogue around the impact of rapid change.

You will have some time to visit the museum’s shop before transferring to the cruise terminal to embark the ship.

  • Explore the beauty and mystery of Egypt’s ancient temples and tombs during this memorable journey to Luxor. Along the way, you will visit the Karnak, Luxor and Hatshepsut Temples, Medinet Habu, Colossi of Memnon and the Valley of the Kings.

    NOTES:

•There are a series of steps (up to 20 steps per chamber) to go down into the various tombs and the ground surrounding the tombs is uneven and dusty. It is also extremely hot here.

•Due to the extensive walking over uneven ground, this program is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or for those who require a wheelchair.

    Day 1

Disembark in Safaga and begin the scenic 3.5-hour drive to Luxor, a city renowned for its ancient monuments and rich history. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before visiting Karnak Temple, one of Egypt’s most extraordinary archaeological sites.

Located approximately two miles north of Luxor Temple and connected to it by an avenue lined with sphinxes, Karnak was the most important religious site in ancient Egypt. Over the course of 2,000 years, successive pharaohs expanded the complex, each leaving behind architectural contributions that reflect the evolving styles and beliefs of their time.

Your visit begins at the grand entrance built during the Ptolemaic period. From there, you’ll pass towering statues of Ramses II and enter the Hypostyle Hall—a vast space supported by 134 massive columns, some still bearing traces of their original paint.

As you continue through a series of courtyards and gateways, you’ll see Queen Hatshepsut’s impressive obelisk, carved from a single block of pink granite, and eventually reach the temple’s oldest section, dating back to around 2000 B.C. and built by the Pharoh’s of the Middle Kingdom.

At the southern end of the temple lies the sacred lake, where ceremonial boats once took part in rituals honoring the god Amon.

Following your visit to Karnak Temple, continue to Luxor Temple, located in the heart of the city. Originally constructed during the reign of Amenophis III, the temple was later expanded by Ramses II, who added statues of himself and two obelisks to its entrance. Today, only one of the obelisks remains; the other was gifted to France by Mohamed Ali in 1831 and now stands at the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Over the centuries, Luxor Temple saw additions from various rulers and cultures. Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century B.C., the Romans subsequently rebuilt portions of the temple, and a mosque was later constructed within the temple grounds, reflecting the site’s continued significance through time.

Following your visit to the Luxor Temple, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. A bit later, you will depart for a unique sound and light show at the Karnak Temple. After the show return to your hotel for a buffet dinner.

    DAY 2

Following a morning buffet breakfast, you will cross the Nile to the west bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains. This arid valley served as the royal necropolis for centuries, and more than 60 tombs of pharaohs and noblemen have been excavated here.

Inside, the kings’ formal names and titles are inscribed on the walls, accompanied by painted scenes and statues. These richly decorated chambers offer a glimpse into the rituals and symbolism of ancient Egyptian burial practices. Between the 18th and 20th dynasties, the kings abandoned the Memphis area and began building their tombs in Thebes.

Enjoy a special visit to the tomb of Seti I, the longest and one of the most beautifully preserved tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Still recognized as a masterpiece from the time of Seti I and his son, Ramesses II, the tomb features elaborate decorations that bring ancient Egypt vividly to life.

Next, visit the tomb of King Tutankhamun, where his mummy remains on display. If time permits, you may also have the opportunity to view one or two additional tombs in the area.

Continuing on, stop for a visit to the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments on the west bank. Its unique design features a series of grand terraces that rise up against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, with rows of square granite columns blending into the surrounding mountainside. Built to honor Egypt’s first female pharaoh, the temple stands as a testament to her legacy.

From here, continue to Medinet Habu, one of the most impressive and historically significant temples on the west bank. Built by Ramses III, the temple served as a mortuary complex and is among the most fascinating of the funerary chapels in the region.

The entrance is flanked by detailed reliefs depicting Ramses III in battle, including scenes of the king striking down enemies and standing before 86 captured figures. On the north side of the doorway, inscriptions recount his military campaigns, including a vivid account of his victory over the Libyans.

Next, a photo stop will be made at the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues that once stood at the entrance of a mortuary temple built for Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Though the temple itself has long since vanished, the statues remain—each rising 75 feet high and weighing over 1,000 tons.

Despite centuries of weathering and damage, including from ancient visitors, the statues continue to impress with their scale and presence.

Following your visit to the Colossi of Memnon, you will be transferred to your hotel for a buffet lunch. After lunch, check out and begin the 3.5-hour drive back to Safaga. Upon arrival, proceed to the pier and reboard your ship.

Note: Mobile phones, cameras, and video equipment are not permitted inside the tombs of Seti I and Tutankhamun. Mobile phones are allowed and free of charge inside other tombs in the valley.

Arrive in Luxor, known as the world’s greatest open-air museum, where you’ll discover awe-inspiring temples and tombs from antiquity. Special Notes:

•Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below about airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

•This program involves extensive walking over uneven ground and is thus not suitable for guests with walking difficulties or for those who require a wheelchair.

    Day 1

Disembark the ship in Safaga and begin the 3.5-hour drive to Luxor. Upon arrival, a stop will be made for lunch before continuing across the Nile River to the west bank for a visit to the Valley of the Kings.

Hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains, this desert valley is home to the remarkable tombs of Egypt’s ancient kings, their families, and other members of the nobility. More than 60 tombs have been excavated here, each offering insight into the beliefs and burial practices of the New Kingdom. Ample time is allotted to explore the site at your own pace.

Enjoy a short photo stop at the Temple of Hatshepsut, a striking mortuary temple built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Buried under sand for centuries, the temple was commissioned by Hatshepsut—the only woman to rule Egypt as pharaoh—and features a series of grand terraces and square granite columns that blend seamlessly with the surrounding mountainside.

A second photo stop follows at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that once flanked the entrance to the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Although the temple itself was destroyed by an earthquake and little remains of its original structure, the statues continue to stand guard over the site, offering a powerful glimpse into Egypt’s monumental past.

Next, visit Luxor Temple, a breathtaking monument that has stood at the heart of the city for more than three millennia. Originally commissioned by Amenhotep III and later expanded by Ramses II, the temple was designed to honor the divine rulers of Egypt and the sacred rituals of kingship. Ramses II added colossal statues of himself and two towering obelisks to the entrance—though today, only one remains in place. The second was gifted to France in 1831 and now stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Over the centuries, the temple continued to evolve. Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century B.C., and later, portions were reconstructed under Roman rule. A mosque was eventually built within the complex, reflecting the temple’s enduring significance across cultures and eras.

Following your visit to the Luxor Temple, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

In the evening, enjoy a buffet dinner at your hotel.

    DAY 2

After an early wake-up call, breakfast boxes will be provided by the hotel prior to departing for the Luxor Airport. From here, you will board a flight to Cairo, with a flight time of approximately 60 minutes.

Upon arrival in Cairo, recognized as the largest city in Africa and the Middle East, you will be transferred to a deluxe hotel for a buffet breakfast. Following breakfast, the day’s touring will begin.

Your first visit of the day will be to the Grand Egyptian Museum, considered to be the largest archeological museum in Africa and the Middle East, where the world’s most important pieces of Egypt’s ancient history are on display.

Spanning approximately 500,000 square meters, it houses over 100,000 artifacts showcasing Egypt's rich history. GEM's galleries offer a chronological journey through 3,000 years of Egyptian history, with exhibits from the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms.

One of the highlights of your visit will be King Tutankhamen exhibition hall where the full collection of the Boy King are displayed in one place.

After your museum visit, continue to one of the most iconic sites in all of Egypt—the Pyramids of Giza. These monumental structures, built over 4,500 years ago, are the only remaining wonder of the Ancient World. Nearby stands the enigmatic Sphinx.

The Giza Plateau is home to three major pyramids, each built as a royal tomb by the pharaohs Cheops, his son Chephren, and Chephren’s son Mykerinus. These monumental structures were designed to house their mummified remains and support their journey to the afterlife. Located within the greater Cairo area, the pyramids remain a powerful symbol of ancient Egypt’s engineering mastery and spiritual beliefs.

Situated in front of the Pyramid of Chephren stands the legendary Great Sphinx, guardian of the Giza Plateau. This monumental statue, with the body of a lion and the head of a human, was carved from a single piece of bedrock and remains one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Egypt. Its imposing presence has inspired awe for millennia and is considered a national emblem of both Ancient and Modern Egypt.

At each site you will have ample time to walk around and take photos although no inside visits are permitted. Please be aware that there will be vendors selling merchandise and camel rides which you can do but are at your own risk.

Lunch will be in a deluxe restaurant prior to the drive back to the Airport for the flight to Hurghada which is located approximately 60 km / 37 miles away from the port. Once you have arrived you will be met and transferred to Safaga where you will reboard the ship.

    Land Program Step by Step:

An evening visit to the Luxor Museum is also included.

    NOTES:

•Due to the extensive walking over uneven ground, this program is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or for those who require a wheelchair.

    Day 1

You will be met after disembarking in Safaga to begin the scenic 3.5-hour drive to Luxor, a city renowned for its ancient monuments and rich history.

Next, you will transfer to your hotel for check-in. Later, depart for the Luxor Museum, beautifully situated along the east bank of the Nile River.

This thoughtfully curated museum showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts from across ancient Egypt. Exhibits range from finely crafted pharaonic art to everyday objects such as pottery, tools, and jewelry. Including items that were discovered in the temples and tombs of the Theban region, offering insight into both the ceremonial and domestic aspects of ancient Egyptian life.

Back at your hotel, enjoy a buffet dinner before retiring for the evening.

Continuing on, enjoy a photo stop at the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments on the west bank. Its unique design features a series of grand terraces that rise up against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, with rows of square granite columns blending into the surrounding mountainside. Built to honor Egypt’s first female pharaoh, the temple stands as a testament to her legacy.

From here, you will continue to the Valley of the Queens for a special visit to the tomb of Queen Nefertari, one of the largest and most beautifully decorated tombs in the valley. Known for its vivid colors and intricate detail, the tomb is considered a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian art.

Nefertari Meritmut was the first of the great royal wives of Ramses the Great, and her tomb reflects the high status she held during his reign. Access to this site is quite limited, and prior permission is required to enter, therefore, a private visit has been specially arranged for your group.

    NOTES:

•There are a series of steps (up to 20 steps per chamber) to go down into the various tombs and the ground surrounding the tombs is uneven and dusty. It is also extremely hot here.

•Mobile phones, cameras, and video equipment are not permitted inside the tombs of Seti I, Tutankhamun and Nefertari.

•Mobile phones are allowed and free of charge inside other tombs in the valley.

Finally, you will board a traditional Dahabeya boat for a relaxing cruise along the Nile, including lunch. Afterward, return to your hotel to check out and begin the 3.5-hour drive back to Safaga.

Upon arrival, proceed directly to the pier and re-board the ship.
