Hotel and Land Program pricing is not combinable with FREE 1-Night Pre-Cruise Luxury Hotel Package. If applicable, please contact Regent Seven Seas Cruises or your travel agent for multi-night pre-cruise hotel pricing information. Land program promotions are subject to terms.
Visit the most archaeologically important sites in and around Athens, including the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon and Ancient Corinth, with a stop at the extraordinary manmade Corinth Canal as well.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an extensive 4-day program that covers a lot of ground by luxury coach. There is a lot of driving involved but guests will have a unique opportunity to visit two of the most precious and sacred sites in a beautiful and unspoiled part of Northern Greece. Due to the amount of walking over uneven ground and steps at the various ancient sites, this program is not suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair, walker, cane or who have other mobility restrictions.
DAY 1
Upon arrival at the Athens International Airport, you will be met outside the baggage claim area and transferred to your hotel in the center of Athens.
Check in time is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. For early arrivals, you may wish to book an extra night so your room will be ready upon arrival.
The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.
NOTE: should you have any special dietary requirements, kindly advise the Regent Reservations Team to note your land program booking at least 90 days before departing for your program. Any last-minute requests may not be able to be accommodated.
DAY 2
After breakfast, depart your hotel for a guided visit to the Temple of Poseidon. Enjoy a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road, which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and passes through the beautiful suburbs of Glyfada, Kavouri, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, and Lagonissi.
At Cape Sounion you will visit the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon, standing some 200 feet above the sea at the edge of a cliff. It is one of the most breathtaking and deeply moving sights in all of Greece. This is the place where the ancient Greeks worshipped their mighty god of the seas, Poseidon.
Lunch will be served in a traditional rustic taverna located in the small town of Kalyvia. In this eatery, you will enjoy truly traditional Greek cuisine.
In the evening, you will take a stroll through the enchanting historical area of Athens with its traditional streets, restaurants, shops and colorful old quarter, where ancient monuments and Byzantine churches are abundant. In the Plaka neighborhood, you will enjoy a traditional Greek dinner before returning to your hotel.
DAY 3
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and proceed to the Isthmus of Corinth where you will have a photo stop at the famous Corinth Canal which connects the Ionian and Aegean seas, thus providing a maritime short cut. The canal is four miles long, 70 feet wide and has sloping sides that are 170 feet high.
Your next stop will be at Ancient Corinth. The ruins that lie in this area are a surprising mix of a 6th-century BC Greek city and a 44 BC Roman city -- the latter was built after Julius Caesar placed a colony on this desolate site. You will see the ruins and excavations of both, including where the Christian Basilica, the starting lines of a Greek racetrack, a sacred spring with its bronze lion's-head spouts, and the elaborate Roman fountain of Peirene were located.
After lunch you will visit the somber and mighty ruins of ancient Mycenae -- vestiges of a kingdom that, for 400 years, was the most powerful in all of Greece. Enter the Citadel of Mycenae on foot, approaching it through the famous Lion Gate. Inside are the shaft graves discovered by Schliemann. You will also visit the Beehive Tomb, known sometimes as the Tomb of Agamemnon, the Greek Commander-in-Chief during the Trojan War.
A short drive will bring you to the first capital of modern-day Greece after the war of Independence. Nafplion is now regarded as one of the most romantic destinations in Greece, and you will walk through its Venetian and neoclassical buildings, old neighborhoods and large squares. You will see the famous Bourtzi protecting the entrance to the harbor and Akronafplia and Palamidi castles, which add a sense of drama to this stunning seaport town.
DAY 4
After breakfast and check out, depart the hotel for a guided visit to the site of the Acropolis. Along the way pass by landmarks such as Constitution Square, the Houses of Parliament, the Neoclassical-style university buildings, the Royal Palace and the Old Olympic Stadium of Athens. The stadium is built entirely of marble and offers a great view of the Acropolis in the distance. The highlight will be when you arrive at the foot of the magnificent Acropolis, one of the most famous and photographed ancient monuments in the world.
During a walking tour of the site, your guide will describe its history. Once at the top, enjoy some free time to wander round and admire the ancient temples of Athena Nike and the towering Parthenon.
Next you will visit the breathtaking Acropolis Museum, whose collection of artifacts was excavated from the Acropolis. After browsing the museum, you will proceed to the port for embarkation.
Note: Expect high temperatures in the summer months and heavy crowds. There are upwards of 100 or more un-even steps to get to the top of the monument. There is a handrail in some spots but not everywhere. Those not wishing to venture to the top can remain at the bottom and wait for the group to return. The ground at the top is uneven. Large bags are not permitted here and must be left on the tour bus.
Land Program Details Step by Step
•The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. Program times are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change.
•Itineraries with the up-to-date details will be issued when you are emailed your final cruise documents 21 days prior to sailing. You will then receive a final itinerary from our ground operator with a Welcome Letter upon arrival or at your hotel. Please review the letter and your final itinerary carefully for further amendments.
•The hotels used for your land program will be the hotels listed in this document unless you have been advised otherwise in advance of the land program start date.

Explore the beauty and mystery of Egypt’s ancient temples and tombs during this memorable journey to Luxor. Along the way, you will visit the Temples at Karnak and Luxor as well as the Hatshepsut Temple, Colossi of Memnon and both the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. An evening visit to the Luxor Museum is also included.
NOTES:
•There are a series of steps (up to 20 steps per chamber) to go down into the various tombs and the ground surrounding the tombs is uneven and dusty. It is also extremely hot here.
•Due to the extensive walking over uneven ground, this program is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or for those who require a wheelchair.
Day 1
You will be met after disembarking in Safaga to begin the scenic 3.5-hour drive to Luxor, a city renowned for its ancient monuments and rich history. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before visiting Karnak Temple, one of Egypt’s most extraordinary archaeological sites.
Located approximately two miles north of Luxor Temple and connected to it by an avenue lined with sphinxes, Karnak was the most important religious site in ancient Egypt. Over the course of 2,000 years, successive pharaohs expanded the complex, each leaving behind architectural contributions that reflect the evolving styles and beliefs of their time.
Your visit begins at the grand entrance built during the Ptolemaic period. From there, you’ll pass towering statues of Ramses II and enter the Hypostyle Hall—a vast space supported by 134 massive columns, some still bearing traces of their original paint.
As you continue through a series of courtyards and gateways, you’ll see Queen Hatshepsut’s impressive obelisk, carved from a single block of pink granite, and eventually reach the temple’s oldest section, dating back to around 2000 B.C. and built by the Pharoh’s of the Middle Kingdom.
At the southern end of the temple lies the sacred lake, where ceremonial boats once took part in rituals honoring the god Amon.
Following your visit to Karnak Temple, continue to Luxor Temple, located in the heart of the city. Originally constructed during the reign of Amenophis III, the temple was later expanded by Ramses II, who added statues of himself and two obelisks to its entrance. Today, only one of the obelisks remains; the other was gifted to France by Mohamed Ali in 1831 and now stands at the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
Over the centuries, Luxor Temple saw additions from various rulers and cultures. Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century B.C., the Romans subsequently rebuilt portions of the temple, and a mosque was later constructed within the temple grounds, reflecting the site’s continued significance through time.
Next, you will transfer to your hotel for check-in. Later, depart for the Luxor Museum, beautifully situated along the east bank of the Nile River.
This thoughtfully curated museum showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts from across ancient Egypt. Exhibits range from finely crafted pharaonic art to everyday objects such as pottery, tools, and jewelry. Including items that were discovered in the temples and tombs of the Theban region, offering insight into both the ceremonial and domestic aspects of ancient Egyptian life.
Back at your hotel, enjoy a buffet dinner before retiring for the evening.
DAY 2
Following a morning buffet breakfast, you will cross the Nile to the west bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains. This arid valley served as the royal necropolis for centuries, and more than 60 tombs of pharaohs and noblemen have been excavated here.
Inside, the kings’ formal names and titles are inscribed on the walls, accompanied by painted scenes and statues. These richly decorated chambers offer a glimpse into the rituals and symbolism of ancient Egyptian burial practices. Between the 18th and 20th dynasties, the kings abandoned the Memphis area and began building their tombs in Thebes.
Enjoy a special visit to the tomb of Seti I, the longest and one of the most beautifully preserved tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Still recognized as a masterpiece from the time of Seti I and his son, Ramesses II, the tomb features elaborate decorations that bring ancient Egypt vividly to life.
Next, visit the tomb of King Tutankhamun, where his mummy remains on display. If time permits, you may also have the opportunity to view one or two additional tombs in the area.
Continuing on, enjoy a photo stop at the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments on the west bank. Its unique design features a series of grand terraces that rise up against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, with rows of square granite columns blending into the surrounding mountainside. Built to honor Egypt’s first female pharaoh, the temple stands as a testament to her legacy.
From here, you will continue to the Valley of the Queens for a special visit to the tomb of Queen Nefertari, one of the largest and most beautifully decorated tombs in the valley. Known for its vivid colors and intricate detail, the tomb is considered a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian art.
Nefertari Meritmut was the first of the great royal wives of Ramses the Great, and her tomb reflects the high status she held during his reign. Access to this site is quite limited, and prior permission is required to enter, therefore, a private visit has been specially arranged for your group.
NOTES:
•There are a series of steps (up to 20 steps per chamber) to go down into the various tombs and the ground surrounding the tombs is uneven and dusty. It is also extremely hot here.
•Mobile phones, cameras, and video equipment are not permitted inside the tombs of Seti I, Tutankhamun and Nefertari.
•Mobile phones are allowed and free of charge inside other tombs in the valley.
Next, a photo stop will be made at the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues that once stood at the entrance of a mortuary temple built for Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Though the temple itself has long since vanished, the statues remain—each rising 75 feet high and weighing over 1,000 tons. Despite centuries of weathering and damage, including from ancient visitors, the statues continue to impress with their scale and presence.
Finally, you will board a traditional Dahabeya boat for a relaxing cruise along the Nile, including lunch. Afterward, return to your hotel to check out and begin the 3.5-hour drive back to Safaga.
Upon arrival, proceed directly to the pier and re-board the ship.

Day 1
Disembark in Safaga and begin the scenic 3.5-hour drive to Luxor, a city renowned for its ancient monuments and rich history.
Following your visit to the Luxor Temple, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. A bit later, you will depart for a unique sound and light show at the Karnak Temple. After the show return to your hotel for a buffet dinner.
DAY 2
Following a morning buffet breakfast, you will cross the Nile to the west bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains.
Continuing on, stop for a visit to the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments on the west bank. Its unique design features a series of grand terraces that rise up against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, with rows of square granite columns blending into the surrounding mountainside. Built to honor Egypt’s first female pharaoh, the temple stands as a testament to her legacy.
From here, continue to Medinet Habu, one of the most impressive and historically significant temples on the west bank. Built by Ramses III, the temple served as a mortuary complex and is among the most fascinating of the funerary chapels in the region.
The entrance is flanked by detailed reliefs depicting Ramses III in battle, including scenes of the king striking down enemies and standing before 86 captured figures. On the north side of the doorway, inscriptions recount his military campaigns, including a vivid account of his victory over the Libyans.
Following your visit to the Colossi of Memnon, you will be transferred to your hotel for a buffet lunch. After lunch, check out and begin the 3.5-hour drive back to Safaga. Upon arrival, proceed to the pier and reboard your ship.
Note: Mobile phones, cameras, and video equipment are not permitted inside the tombs of Seti I and Tutankhamun. Mobile phones are allowed and free of charge inside other tombs in the valley.

After landing, you visit Historic Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the birthplace of the Saudi Kingdom. At-Turaif District features impressive mudbrick buildings and landmarks, and your guide shares important stories about Diriyah’s role in Saudi history.
Next, experience authentic regional cuisine at Najd Village, a restaurant designed in traditional Najdi style with wooden beams, embroidered cushions, and subtle lantern lighting. A Saudi lunch is served, including slow-cooked lamb, kabsa rice, freshly baked bread from a clay oven, sweet dates, and Arabic coffee.
A bit later, proceed into Old Riyadh, a district where historical significance endures alongside contemporary development. At Souq Al Zal, one of the city’s most established marketplaces, visitors encounter the distinctive aromas of frankincense and oud, as well as a variety of traditional goods including handcrafted daggers, intricately woven rugs in desert tones, antique coins, and an array of spices. Disembark the ship in Safaga and begin the 3.5-hour drive to Luxor. Upon arrival, a stop will be made for lunch before continuing across the Nile River to the west bank for a visit to the Valley of the Kings.
Hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains, this desert valley is home to the remarkable tombs of Egypt’s ancient kings, their families, and other members of the nobility. More than 60 tombs have been excavated here, each offering insight into the beliefs and burial practices of the New Kingdom. Ample time is allotted to explore the site at your own pace.
Enjoy a short photo stop at the Temple of Hatshepsut, a striking mortuary temple built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Buried under sand for centuries, the temple was commissioned by Hatshepsut—the only woman to rule Egypt as pharaoh—and features a series of grand terraces and square granite columns that blend seamlessly with the surrounding mountainside.
A second photo stop follows at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that once flanked the entrance to the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Although the temple itself was destroyed by an earthquake and little remains of its original structure, the statues continue to stand guard over the site, offering a powerful glimpse into Egypt’s monumental past.
Next, visit Luxor Temple, a breathtaking monument that has stood at the heart of the city for more than three millennia. Originally commissioned by Amenhotep III and later expanded by Ramses II, the temple was designed to honor the divine rulers of Egypt and the sacred rituals of kingship. Ramses II added colossal statues of himself and two towering obelisks to the entrance—though today, only one remains in place. The second was gifted to France in 1831 and now stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
Over the centuries, the temple continued to evolve. Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century B.C., and later, portions were reconstructed under Roman rule. A mosque was eventually built within the complex, reflecting the temple’s enduring significance across cultures and eras.
Following your visit to the Luxor Temple, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
In the evening, enjoy a buffet dinner at your hotel.
DAY 2
After an early wake-up call, breakfast boxes will be provided by the hotel prior to departing for the Luxor Airport. From here, you will board a flight to Cairo, with a flight time of approximately 60 minutes.
Upon arrival in Cairo, recognized as the largest city in Africa and the Middle East, you will be transferred to a deluxe hotel for a buffet breakfast. Following breakfast, the day’s touring will begin.
Your first visit of the day will be to the Grand Egyptian Museum, considered to be the largest archeological museum in Africa and the Middle East, where the world’s most important pieces of Egypt’s ancient history are on display.
Spanning approximately 500,000 square meters, it houses over 100,000 artifacts showcasing Egypt's rich history. GEM's galleries offer a chronological journey through 3,000 years of Egyptian history, with exhibits from the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms.
One of the highlights of your visit will be King Tutankhamen exhibition hall where the full collection of the Boy King are displayed in one place.
After your museum visit, continue to one of the most iconic sites in all of Egypt—the Pyramids of Giza. These monumental structures, built over 4,500 years ago, are the only remaining wonder of the Ancient World. Nearby stands the enigmatic Sphinx.
The Giza Plateau is home to three major pyramids, each built as a royal tomb by the pharaohs Cheops, his son Chephren, and Chephren’s son Mykerinus. These monumental structures were designed to house their mummified remains and support their journey to the afterlife. Located within the greater Cairo area, the pyramids remain a powerful symbol of ancient Egypt’s engineering mastery and spiritual beliefs.
Situated in front of the Pyramid of Chephren stands the legendary Great Sphinx, guardian of the Giza Plateau. This monumental statue, with the body of a lion and the head of a human, was carved from a single piece of bedrock and remains one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Egypt. Its imposing presence has inspired awe for millennia and is considered a national emblem of both Ancient and Modern Egypt.
At each site you will have ample time to walk around and take photos although no inside visits are permitted. Please be aware that there will be vendors selling merchandise and camel rides which you can do but are at your own risk.
Lunch will be in a deluxe restaurant prior to the drive back to the Airport for the flight to Hurghada which is located approximately 60 km / 37 miles away from the port. Once you have arrived you will be met and transferred to Safaga where you will reboard the ship.
