Explore Victoria’s historic Inner harbor and enjoy carefully curated west coast culinary events along the way. This program exemplifies the diverse and refined experiences characteristic of the West Coast of Canada.

    Special Notes:

•Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to our local ground operators for review.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport, you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel.

Check-in time is 3:00pm. Should you have an early arriving flight you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee room availability upon arrival, or you may choose to store your luggage at Reception and begin to enjoy the facilities of the hotel.

The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel offers stylish accommodations with stunning harbor and mountain views, located just steps from Canada Place and the cruise terminal. Easily explore nearby attractions like historic Gastown, the Vancouver seawall, and Stanley Park, all within walking distance. A short taxi or car ride away is the Historical Granville Island with its eclectic shops, restaurants, amazing private galleries, craft breweries and spirit distilleries, and a world-renowned public market. Numerous upscale dining options are within close proximity of the hotel, many just a short walk away.

An RSSC Hospitality Desk will be available on Day 1 of the program to assist with any questions or arrangements.

Note: Couples or cruise bookings with two guests will transfer by private van and solo travelers will transfer by private sedan. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces or large luggage and two carry on pieces per person and sedans hold a maximum of two large suitcases and a carry-on. Transfers are with driver only.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel meet your guide and depart for a scenic 30-minute drive across the Lions Gate Bridge to Vancouver’s North Shore to the village of Horseshoe Bay. Enjoy the sights and commentary passing through the downtown core and Stanley Park and across the Lions Gate Bridge, this route offers striking views of the harbor, Burrard Inlet, and the forested Coast Mountains.

Before boarding the ferry, discover the sights of Horseshoe Bay Village — a picturesque waterfront community known for its marina, cafés, and mountain backdrop. Board the ferry for an hour and half crossing to Nanaimo, where coastal mountains, and Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley await. For a memorable start to the day, step on the viewing deck where there is a possibility of spotting porpoises, eagles, or even humpback whales and Orcas. The ferry also has a la carte food and beverage services and some shopping options.

At Nanaimo, enjoy a 45-minute drive south through the Cowichan Valley’s pastoral farmland’s coastal villages and towering forests, to the historic town of Duncan to explore its collection of 40 Coast Salish Totem Poles. Have an engaging experience learning what made the Coast Salish First Nations so different than most other North American First Nations.

Note: the visit to Duncan is on level sidewalks with no stairs.

Enjoy a visit to a lovely award-winning winery and vineyard including a delicious west coast lunch, and of course some wine tasting or a glass of wine with lunch. Following lunch, a short drive will take you to another award-winning winery and vineyard for a guided tasting paired with local cheeses and seasonal bites as you learn about how it has carved a niche in British Columbia’s wineries.

Note: There are approximately ten stairs to access the tasting room at the second winery.

Next, take a short drive into the coastal mountains to the “Malahat” to take in its amazing views and arrive for a seamless check-in at one of the top-rated Small Hotels of the World, the Villa Eyrie Resort, nestled into the mountainside and surrounded by nature and serenity.

After some free time, indulge in another west coast-inspired meal at a favorite local fine dining establishment, the Alpina Restaurant, to enjoy the meal with framed stunning views of Finlayson Arm accompanied by a local musician. After this culinary experience, consider watching the incomparable sunset from the lounge before retiring for the night.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel restaurant, enjoy a short scenic drive into one of Vancouver Island’s urban old growth forests. Here nature has been preserved and blended into the outskirts of Victoria.

You will have a choice to two trails to take – one that is on a boardwalk and wheelchair/walker accessible, or you might wish to take a more moderate trail on uneven dirt and rocks with some short moderate inclines. Each trail is guided.

Learn about one of the most primitive eco-systems on the planet and one of the most important. On this interpretive experience beneath a canopy of towering Cedars and Douglas firs, see and learn how trees communicate and collaborate to survive, an amazing experience connecting with the forest using all the senses to discover how the forest makes us healthy and happy.

Leave the old growth forest relaxed and rejuvenated and depart on an engaging drive into Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia. Indulge at an inner harbor waterfront restaurant with a delicious three course meal of fresh coastal flavors paired with a glass of BC wine or craft beer.

The afternoon will be spent with your guide exploring the Inner Harbor, starting at Fisherman’s Wharf. See colorful floating homes and enjoy the bustling atmosphere of this unique waterfront community. From there, enjoy a short ride on the iconic harbor ferry, offering marvelous views on a leisurely ride to the harbor in front of the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

From the Empress, your guide will lead you on a walking tour showcasing historic landmarks such as British Columbia’s Parliament Buildings, and mostly the charming streets of Old Towne and the famous Chinatown and its opium dens; it is one of the oldest in North America. Discover the stories behind these sites and learn about Victoria's transformation from a Hudson's Bay Company trading post to a vibrant modern city.

Note: Several areas of this walking tour require climbing up to ten steps at a time. A detour is available

for those with walking difficulty that requires missing about 10 minutes of the experience

Enjoy some free time to explore boutique shops, galleries, and the Harbor front before regrouping for a scenic 30-minute drive back to Villa Eyrie.

After some free time to enjoy the facilities and grounds of the hotel, indulge in another west coast-inspired meal at the hotel’s restaurant, accompanied by a local musician.

As evening falls, consider staying up late tonight to experience a guided Dark Skies Stargazing tour under

the stars. Note: this activity requires walking for about 10-15 minutes along paved roads and/or

    sidewalks.

This day offers a perfect blend of the nature, history, and cultures that formed this region and the historic city of Victoria, providing a comprehensive introduction to the South Island experience.

    DAY 4

Following breakfast at your hotel, settle any incidentals and check out before meeting your guide for a short drive to the world-famous Butchart Gardens. For more than one hundred years, these National Historic Site gardens have been carefully cultivated and today showcase a spectacular array of design and color.

Delight in a guided walk through the Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and Italian Garden — each offering its own story and seasonal highlights.

Note: the tour at the gardens is along paved walking trails; to view the Sunken Garden there are about

Fifteen steps. For those who wish to avoid the Sunken Garden due to the steps, a detour can be taken.

Later this morning, the journey continues with a scenic drive through the Saanich Peninsula to the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, where there is free time to explore local cafés and shops before boarding the ferry to Tsawwassen. This 90-minute sailing reveals a myriad of Gulf Islands, coastal mountains, and the chance to spot marine wildlife, creating a memorable journey across the Coast Salish Sea.

Upon arrival on the mainland, enjoy a final scenic drive through the suburbs to the port which is located in downtown Vancouver. Here the program ends, and you will embark your ship.

  • Experience the true Alaska by traveling through the pristine countryside by rail, driving through Denali National Park, and exploring intriguing inland cities, often on your own so you’re free to see whatever you wish. This program features Denali National Park, antique automobiles, sled dog champions, and up- close wildlife viewing opportunities.

*This program ends in Fairbanks, Alaska therefore all flights must depart from Fairbanks International Airport (FAI)

    DAY 1

Upon disembarking the ship in Whittier, meet your Tour Director who will join you for the journey through Alaska’s interior during the next five days. Driving toward Anchorage, you will pass through a landscape so spectacular it holds three scenic designations: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. Make a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to see indigenous animals to Alaska in their natural habitat.

In Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, you will enjoy a brief orientation tour that will present some of the highlights and suggestions for lunch on your own in the downtown.

Following lunch, you will depart for Talkeetna, the quaint Alaskan town that provided the inspiration for the 1990s TV program “Northern Exposure.” It nestles at the confluence of three rivers: the Talkeetna, Chulitna, and Susitna.

After checking in at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, you will attend an exclusive reception so you can get to know your travel companions. The evening is open for dinner on your own and to explore Talkeetna.

Although known for its restaurants, brewery and quaint shops, weather permitting, Talkeetna also offers extraordinary views of Mt. Denali. The highest peak in North America, Mt. Denali can usually be photographed from several locales around town, including the back deck of the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, or similar, where you will spend the evening. Dinner is on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the lodge, board your Deluxe Dome Railcar for the journey to Denali National Park. Seating is upstairs in the dome, which offers incredible views of Alaska’s stunning natural beauty from all sides of the railcar. Lunch is included today onboard the train. The remainder of your day is open for optional activities, such as helicopter flightseeing over Mt. Denali, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting on the Nenana River. The prices for each activity vary. These programs can only be booked at the lodge and are independently operated with no affiliation to the cruise line.

After dinner on your own, you will spend the evening at the Grande Denali Lodge or similar.

    DAY 3

The day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge and then a bus trip into the park on the Denali Natural History Tour. Focusing on the rich natural and cultural history of the park, this program includes several interpretive stops and an hour off-bus experience. Begin with a stop to learn about the creation of the Denali Park Road with the film “Across Time and Tundra.” Next visit Savage Cabin, the original ranger’s cabin, provides a living history into how the cabin was once used and how it continues to be used today. Finally, you will make a stop at Primrose Ridge to experience a memorable Alaska Native presentation that will enlighten you with how the land has been used for nearly 10,000 years. All along the way your naturalist driver-guide will provide a great introduction to the landscape, geology, and history of Denali National Park and Preserve. Tours are conducted in Denali National Park busses with a driver-guide.

NOTE: There may be an opportunity to upgrade to the longer Tundra Wilderness Tour depending on time and availability. Your Tour Director will be able to provide more information while you are on the tour with regards to cost and availability.

This afternoon, re-board your deluxe motor coach and depart for Fairbanks.

Upon arriving in Fairbanks, you will transfer to the truly unique but delightful Pikes Waterfront Lodge or similar, your hotel for the next two nights. Dinner is on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at the lodge, you will begin touring Fairbanks, where you will learn of its rich Gold Rush history. A stop will be made at Trail Breaker Kennels to meet the canine athletes that run some of the biggest dog sled races in the world. Located along the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska, Trail Breaker Kennel was established in 1980 by the husband and wife team of David Monson (Yukon Quest champion) and Susan Butcher (four-time Iditarod champion). Both were avid mushers and longed to fulfill their dream of mushing full-time and raising a family. In 1993, David and Susan decided to share their love of sled dogs with the public.

Trail Breaker Kennel is now one of the longest operating kennels in Fairbanks where visitors experience and enjoy an Alaskan mushing lifestyle. During the winter months, the Alaskan huskies train for and participate in sled dog races around Alaska. In the summer, the dogs take a break from racing and enjoy short training runs around the lake, swimming in the river, and interacting with visitors from around the world.

Following an included lunch at a restaurant in Fairbanks, you will get to spend time this afternoon at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Collection. This hidden gem rivals most collections found around the world and displays American-made antique automobiles and vintage clothing from Alaska’s post-Gold Rush era. Highlights include early steam, electric and hybrid cars, America’s first V16-powered automobile, and midget racecars. All automobiles in this collection are operational.

The remainder of the day is free for dinner on your own and other optional activities.

    DAY 5

Following breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to the Fairbanks International Airport for your flight home.

Weather conditions are unpredictable. While the cruise line and its appointed ground operators will do everything possible to assist with alternative arrangements, we cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred if a land program, tour or private arrangement made through the cruise line is disrupted due to adverse weather.

  • See big, bold and genuine Alaska! Follow its scenic highways and famed Alaska Railway into rustic towns and through majestic Denali National Park, visit an Iditarod dog kennel, and view breathtaking, snow-mantled mountains.

    Day 1

After disembarking the ship in Whittier, you will meet your tour director and begin the drive to Girdwood. The road travelled passes through some of America’s most spectacular scenery and holds three scenic designations: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. On the way, enjoy a stop at an organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife. The center is a home and a refuge for many animals; bear, moose, elk, and other wildlife that call Alaska home.

Upon arriving and checking in to the beautiful Alyeska Resort, the remainder of the day is at your leisure with any meals on your own. You may wish to enjoy a ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska on the aerial tramway for a spectacular view of the surrounding area with its seven glaciers. Or, perhaps make an appointment at the outdoor Nordic Spa where you can soak in multiple hot and cool pools, make use of their steam rooms or book a massage (costs not included for tram or Nordic Spa). The resort also has an indoor heated pool and hot tub free of charge and several restaurants on site along with a shuttle that will take you to a small array of eateries off site.

    Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the four-hour scenic drive from Girdwood to Denali via the George Parks Highway, which winds through the kind of scenery that defines the Alaskan interior: tundra, soaring mountain peaks, glaciers, forests, wild rivers, and vast expanses primarily inhabited by animals such as moose, grizzlies, foxes and birds.

Along the way you will visit an Iditarod Sled Dog Kennel and learn about this truly Alaskan competition. Note: this is not a ride with the dogs. Traveling from Anchorage to Nome on the Bering Sea coast, each Iditarod team of 12 to 16 dogs and their musher cover 1,150 miles of Alaska’s most rugged terrain in 10 to 17 days. Add temperatures well below zero, scouring winds, and long hours of darkness, and it is no wonder that the Iditarod is called the last Great Race on Earth.

A boxed lunch will be provided en route.

Once you reach Denali, you will be transferred to the Grande Denali Lodge or similar, which perches on the edge of a bluff less than a mile from the entrance to Denali National Park.

Following an enlightening private lecture on Denali, your evening is free to enjoy dinner on-own and an overnight at the lodge.

    Day 4

After breakfast at the lodge, your morning is free to further enjoy exploring the area in or around Denali National Park before boarding the Alaska Railroad train. As you travel by rail the 4.5 hours to Talkeetna, seating is upstairs in the dome where you will enjoy views from all sides of the railcar. Lunch is included downstairs in the dining room.

After arriving in Talkeetna, whose downtown is a National Historic Site, you will board your motorcoach and continue south to Anchorage where you will check-in to the Marriott Hotel (or similar). The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    Day 5

As your baggage will travel on many different modes of transportation, please choose sturdy cases that have been properly tagged with personal identifications, both inside and out. It is important to keep all valuables and documents on your person. As amenities such as elevators and baggage handling are limited at some locations, we suggest you only carry one bag per person while on the land tour. Alternately, your tour director will collect any pieces that you do not want to take on and off the bus each day and it will be stored on the motor coach in a locked bay. Please pack accordingly and bring any medications and documents with you.

Alternatively, you may wish to contact Luggage Forward to make your own luggage transfer arrangements (at own cost) from the ship to your home -www.luggageforward.com

    Phone: 877-231-5131

    CLOTHING AND CLIMATE

With a broad variety of weather possibilities, we encourage you to bring clothes that are suited to layering. Daytime attire in Alaska is strictly casual. Comfortable, supportive walking shoes are a must. The following items should be included: water-repellant coat or jacket, collapsible umbrella, rain hat, lightweight windbreaker, and sweaters. It could be warmer inland with summer temperatures in Denali reaching 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

    ALTITUDE

Travel in Alaska is generally at lower elevations. The maximum altitude is 2,800 feet in Denali National Park.

    WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather conditions are unpredictable. While the cruise line and its appointed ground operators will do everything possible to assist with alternative arrangements, we cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred if a land program, tour or private arrangement made through the cruise line is disrupted due to adverse weather.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

The published itinerary is based on component suppliers expected to be operating for the land program. Changes to the availability of flights, flight and tour schedules or other itinerary components out of the cruise line’s control may require an adjustment to the final itinerary. The local ground operator will handle meal vouchers, train tickets, or tour tickets included in the program. The cruise line reserves the right to substitute hotels, if necessary.

Please note: Land programs that encompass multiple days ashore customarily include extensive and prolonged activity, while those of shorter durations typically have more moderate activity levels. However, each program varies, and participants should be prepared to negotiate a mixture of surfaces which may include inclines, cobblestones, sand, and gravel or natural paths. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

Please note: All land programs are capacity controlled and subject to availability. Programs falling under the minimum number of required participants are subject to cancellation. Pricing listed is also subject to change to meet unexpected cost increases for transportation, land arrangements or currency fluctuations. Once purchased, pricing is guaranteed and not subject to change. Land Programs must be purchased no later than 90 days prior to your sail date. Cancellations made within 90 days or less prior to the sail date are subject to 100% cancellation penalty. There are no refunds for unused portions of any program.

Price: $2,799 per guest based on double occupancy.

Land program promotions are per person for guests 1 and 2 for one pre- or post-cruise program only, subject to terms.

  • In the Dena’ina Athabascan language, Yaghenen means “the good land,” a name given to the Kenai Peninsula for its beauty, abundance, and rich cultural heritage. This journey invites you to experience the heart of Southcentral Alaska, its breathtaking scenery, welcoming communities, and stories that have shaped this land for generations. From glacier views and mountain peaks to indigenous traditions and coastal charm, your adventure begins here.

    Special notes:

•This program is wheelchair accessible; however, coaches with lifts are not available, so guests must be able to get on and off the tour bus with little to no assistance. ADA-equipped rooms are subject to availability and must be requested at least 120 days before sailing. There is no elevator at the hotel in Anchorage.

•If you have any food intolerances or special dietary needs, please inform us prior to your departure for review by our local vendors. It is important that your land program extension reflects these details to ensure smooth and enjoyable dining experiences.

    DAY 1

Eat a hearty breakfast before disembarking the ship in Whittier. Gather your luggage and meet your driver-guide before departing from the coastal town of Whittier. Leaving the quaint town through the engineering marvel that is the Anton Anderson memorial town.

This 2.6-mile-long tunnel was built during World War II to connect the port of Whittier to Southcentral Alaska. Exiting the tunnel and entering the Portage Valley you will make a stop at the Begich Boggs Visitor Center where you will learn the history of the valley and the glaciers that surround it. After visiting the center, you will have time to go next door to the Portage Glacier Lodge to shop for local gifts and locally made food. Then you will continue through the Portage Valley to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Note: Should the Begich Boggs Visitor Center is closed, guests will enjoy a walk to the Byron Glacier Trail and a visit to the Willawaw salmon run in Portage Valley.

Founded in 1993 the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a nonprofit sanctuary that is dedicated to preservation, education, research, and animal care. The center takes in injured and orphaned animals to rehabilitate and provide permanent homes at the center. The center is home to a variety of Alaskan animals including Lynx, Foxes, Coyotes, Wood Bison, Musk Ox, Brown and Black Bears, Deer, Elk, Caribou, Reindeer, and a Bald Eagle.

Your driver will take you on a guided loop of the facility, giving you information about the animals at the center. From there you will have free time to explore the grounds for close up views of the animals and time to explore the gift shop.

Note: From May through September the Forget-Me-Not Foods food truck or similar is on site and open daily serving hot/cold beverages, grab-n-go snacks, and lunch items for anyone looking for a snack before arriving in Alyeska.

After exploring the Center, you will continue down the Turnagain Arm to the former Gold Mining town turned ski resort of Girdwood. Arriving at the Alyeska Resort you will be given tickets to the Aerial Tram which heads up Mt Alyeska. At the top of the tram, you will have a gorgeous view of the Turnagain Arm and the valley including several glaciers. Sit back and relax and with the included $25 per person meal voucher you can enjoy some food or a drink on the deck or in the Boar Tide lounge.

When you are ready head back down the mountain to the resort and check in for the night. The evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own. You may wish to check with the tour desk at Alyeska Resort for a list of optional activities that are available during your stay.

Note: your driver-guide will drop off the luggage at your hotel while the group is enjoying the views from Mt. Alyeska. Guests can return to the hotel at leisure. Luggage will be delivered to the rooms by the bellman. Your stay at Alyeska Resort is not escorted.

    DAY 2

Enjoy an Included breakfast at the resort, with your morning at leisure to explore Girdwood or participate in optional activities (at additional cost), such as a helicopter flightseeing trip to a glacier, a summer dog sled ride, or a visit to the outdoor Nordic Spa. You may wish to check with the tour desk at Alyeska Resort for a list of optional activities that are available during your stay.

In the late afternoon, transfer to Portage for a scenic float trip down Portage Creek. Glide past hanging glaciers and watch for wildlife on this mellow Class I river, followed by a traditional salmon bake dinner.

Return to the resort after dinner.

Note: The float trip operates rain or shine on a mellow Class I river with no rapids. Guests should bring weather-appropriate clothing. For families traveling with children, smaller children will be provided with a child seat; the minimum age to raft is 2 years. Guests who prefer not to raft may still join the group for dinner only. Portable restrooms are available at the float site.

    DAY 3

After breakfast and check out, meet your driver-guide for the one-hour drive to Anchorage. Keep an eye out for Bore Tides, Beluga Whales and the effects of the 1964 earthquake along the way. As you approach Anchorage learn about Moose eating habits, the boreal forest, and the Alaska Railroad.

You will have time to explore downtown Anchorage on your own. Get a bite to eat at a local eatery, visit the ceremonial start of the Iditarod, or shop for a last-minute Alaskan gift.

Before departing downtown, you’ll take part in a special behind-the-scenes visit to the Alaska Art Alliance, a vibrant nonprofit organization founded by Leon Kinneeveauk, an award-winning Iñupiaq carver and cultural leader. The Alliance is dedicated to celebrating and preserving Alaska Native arts through education, mentorship, and community collaboration.

During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with local artists, witness traditional carving techniques, and learn about the significance of Indigenous art forms in Alaska’s cultural landscape. From intricate ivory carvings to powerful contemporary pieces, the Alliance fosters a space where heritage and creativity thrive.

This enriching experience offers a deeper connection to the people and traditions that have shaped Alaska for generations. Following your visit, the next stop is the Alaska Native Heritage Center, where you’ll continue your journey through Alaska’s diverse Indigenous cultures.

Finally, proceed to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, created by a unanimous vote of the Alaska Federation of Natives in 1987, which called for the establishment of a statewide Alaska Native culture center. It offers a unique experience for you to learn and explore the traditional and contemporary ways of Alaska’s Indigenous cultures. More than a museum, the Center is a place to engage through interact guided tours, dance performances, and Alaska Native Games demonstrations. You will have some free time to explore the exhibits and gallery.

End the day at your hotel located in downtown Anchorage. Dinner will be on your own.

    DAY 4

Following breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to the Anchorage Airport for your flight home. Transfers will be arranged based on your flight time. For guests with late flights, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your transfer.
